Found on the western side of what was once the Templo Mayor complex in Tenochtitlan, in modern Mexico City, the partially unearthed skull rack was likely built between 1485 and 1502 and may have been about 112 feet (34 meters) long and 40 feet (12 meters) wide.
Mostly belonging to young adult men, but also to women and children, several of the unearthed skulls feature holes on both sides, suggesting they belonged to a tzompantli. This was a rack on which the skulls of sacrificed people were arranged on wooden poles and displayed...
To make the scene even more horrifying, the new finding revealed that part of the platform where the head rack once stood was made of rows of skulls mortared together in a circle.
All the skulls faced inward toward the center of the circle, although its unknown what was in there.

The “Earth First” loonies are going to row kayaks and boats into the re-enactment of the landing of Pedro Menendez at St. Augustine. The memorial to the event 450 years ago.
“Because of the “genocide” against indigenous peoples and the “ecocide” caused by the massive incursion of European people into the sanctity of the New World”
This is an active event coming up in a couple of weeks in St. Augustine, protesting the commemoration by the City of St. Augustine. These people are.... nuts. It is posted on Earth First Journal online. Same whackos who spiked trees out West and killed loggers when the chain saw hit them.
The Spanish priests and Conquistadors arriving in that area of the world was literally like the Enola Gay appearing above Hiroshima and dropping that egg.
All in a sudden the inmates in the Japanese death camps were liberated and given a new lease on life.
That Cortez was an aweful guy, wasn’t he? Evil Spaniards. Bad Christians. (Sarcasm)
Aha!
The very first Mr. Potato Head.
“Bummer of a birthmark, Hal.”
I’ve seen some dumb tattoos, but that one takes the cake.
I'll go ahead and guess more skulls.
Early Buzz Lightyear?
And prior to that we were told that Europe was sunshine, lemondrops and rainbows, that barbarity only happened from American Indian hands.
Both are true.
Except for the sunshine, lemon drops and rainbows part.
Killers from Space (1954) starring Peter Graves. I don’t remember if I’ve ever seen it, but I do remember those eyes!
This has been known about for a long time. In the late 1950’s when I had anthropology/archaeology courses in Mexico I read about this. I read in the original Spanish “Cortez’ Five Letters to King Carlos” of Spain, and Bernal Diaz, one of Cortez’s lieutenants concurrent record of his experiences. I would read one episode in one and then read the same period of time in the other. Subsequently, I also read Salvador Madariaga’s “Heart of Jade”, also a very realistic and bloody historical novel. These are all excellent books if you can find them.
looks like Buzz Lightyear
Now, Now, we all know that the skulls were of peaceful, vegan Aztecs who lived as one with nature and their native fellows of other tribes, who were killed by the mean nasty Spainards and then planted by them to make it look like the Aztecs had bloody ritual murder/sacrifices of their enemies and slaves.
(just giving the political correct view, that I totally disagree with)
The truth is often not politically correct, and this is a good example.
Coming soon to a neighborhood near you
The sons of the Aztecs and Mayans are moving north to the US. Plus you have the mixed bloods (mestizos) who are half aztec moving north to America
That tattoo is going to look nice when she’s about 90.
I've been there numerous times and seen for myself.
Or the Incans. But all three Aztecs, Mayans and Incans practiced human sacrifice on a massive scale. Just about all central and south American civilizations did. But hey lets keep our southern border open. All cultures are equally good right? /s
