I've Been A Bit Quiet Lately
Free Republic ^ | 28 June 2015 | Windy

Posted on 06/28/2015 12:16:00 AM PDT by Windflier

I haven't been commenting much lately because my mind is simply on overload right now. I'll bet yours is, too.

About all I can say is that, now isn’t the time for me to ramble, but to digest, contemplate, plan, and prepare.

I’ve spent years at this forum spilling my guts and taxing my synapses. The exchange of viewpoints with others, and even the verbal fisticuffs, has been rewarding in many ways for me.

But recently something’s taken hold of me that’s hard to explain. I guess I’ve quieted down due to the storm clouds I see gathering on the horizon. The low rumble of thunder is just barely heard, but I feel it in my bones. I’ve stepped back from the roundtable, and am now intently gazing at what approaches from the far distance. I can’t take my eyes off it. It’s distracted me from the hearty and boisterous conversation around me.

I’m obviously not the only one who notices, but unlike most, I’m having a hard time talking about it. My survival instincts are kicking in, and all I can seem to think about is doing what I must, to protect my family and myself.

Well, enough with the poetry. I know you get my drift.

I still harbor a great deal of hope that we can propel a conservative champion into the White House in 2016, and help to end our collective nightmare. I've become convinced that Ted Cruz is the one person who has the capacity to unite the good and decent people of this country, and that he's a man who has the requisite courage and backbone to do what must be done to rein in our tyrannical government. I am backing him 100%, and will do everything in my humble ability to see that he becomes our nominee.

For one, Ted is the very first candidate I’ve ever sent money to. Considering the fact that I’ve been voting since 1972, that’s saying something. The way I see it, this is our very last chance to steer the ship of state away from the rocks before she finally crashes, and I have got to do what I can, to avoid what will surely follow, should we fail. I do not want to look my teenaged children in the eyes in a few short years, and say, “I’m sorry kids. You shouldn’t have to risk your lives to save your country, but my generation was just too weak to keep things from coming to this.”

Although it’s incumbent upon me to stay up to date on the tragic unraveling of America, I’m doing my best to not become completely overwhelmed by the course of events. I’ve got a business to run and a family to provide for. That comes first, above all else. That, I will do, but more and more, I look to the Founders for guidance in these bleak and horrible times. Their personal stories, and the examples of heroism they provided, give me hope and strength to carry on in the face of a tyranny they would recognize at once.

In the past, I’ve prayed that our generation would not be called upon to earn our freedom as our forefathers of the 18th century did, but more and more, it appears that that hope is vain. Every day, a new page of history is printed, which in retrospect, will prove that our darkest fears were right on the mark, and that we were right to posit that this generation would either fail, or would pass the greatest test a people can face. I think we can agree that such thoughts are becoming more crystal clear by the day.

I was just telling my wife today, that I wish we could just pick up and move to our rural dream home. Right now.

If only it were possible. I need that solitude and sense of safety. Alas, it’s not to be — at least not for several more years — that is, if things in this country can even hold together.

One saving grace is that I’m in the great state of Texas. As I’ve often told my wife, if things in America go completely sideways, we’ll be safe here, because if (God forbid) the S does HTF, things will straighten up in Texas overnight, as the good men of this state WILL stand tall, and they WILL do their ancestors proud. My certainty about that outcome is just as strong as my gut certainty about the horrific trajectory of current events in this country.

I think every thinking patriot on FR is on the same page with this. It would be a wonderful thing if the ‘other side’ would simply let us be, but they won’t. They’re going to continue pushing until something breaks. It’s just how they roll.

In my heart, I honestly feel pity for them, because when they finally light the match on that prairie fire, no power on God’s green earth will be able to put it out.

Windy, you know better than anyone on FR ever will what I think about pity for anyone that contributed to this fiasco by action or inaction. And this latest literal affront to God and all his Angels does nothing but reinforce it for me.

That said, At this point all we can do is hug a loved one and wait for the inevitable race war, terror strikes and sharped dressed men in snappy black suits with fashionably accessorized Rainbow armbands to come knocking.

Lesser evil was more important than greater good. Staying part of online cliques was more important than principle. Reality TV and football were more important than starving propaganda outlets of operating capital. Most of America is getting exactly what it asked for and it should. It sucks for those that stood strong. It sucks worse for the families and loved ones they strove to protect. But history shows that’s always the case.

When this all comes apart. Any day now at the rate of advance, some of us will remain to clean up the ashes. Such is the lesson of history. And those people will be the ones responsible for bringing back what the gutless wonders sacrificed in a fruitless effort to appease evil.

I say this semi sarcastically, semi ironically for the gamers I pinged. But it’s really true.

“War. War never changes.” Nor do it’s causes, it’s outcomes or the people ALWAYS responsible. Liberals in what ever form or political stripe the era creates them.

It must be pretty dreary in CA these days for someone not “One with the Borg”.

That’s one of the things I find true about these times; the social isolation. Even here in Texas, we avoid the “Urban/Metro” areas at all costs. As a white haired, old, (62) white man, I feel like a target everywhere I go. We avoid public gatherings and places and when we do venture out I find we don’t say much anymore. (by we I mean my wife and I). Its weird; but in the cities, the “creep” factor is off the charts. I sense that “the others” operate from certain presumptions about me/us because of who we are based upon our race and age. On a few occasions, at restaurants for example, I’ve noticed we are slow served, or not served at all.

The worst part however, is that I suspect its going to get a lot worse. Sad times indeed.

Good post - mirrors most of my thoughts/sentiments. Stay strong - the world that is coming will need some strength to lean on as Evil gains ground.

I’m also in Texas and like you, I’m pretty much keeping to myself anymore. My kids are all nearly grown and all but one are off to college. I don’t want to be around other people but this morning, I’m heading to church to worship with other Christians.

I have family in Texas.....
....it’s on my ‘safe place’ list

Without a doubt I know good Godly pastors will deal with this life changing ruling from the pulpit today..... God bless them and keep them safe.

You have written what's in my mind, as well, windflier.

Especially:

I was just telling my wife today, that I wish we could just pick up and move to our rural dream home. Right now.

My husband and I both keep checking on the internet for places to retreat to - somewhere out in the country - like a cabin or small house. Somewhere with a smaller population. We can't afford it right now anyway, but now that we have a grandbaby, and another on the way, we too have both felt the need to find an escape. Somewhere where our family will be safe.

Well said, Windy.

My heart is very heavy also.

We see the whirlwind about to be reaped.

Another Freeper said it feels like 1859 in a 1938 world. I thought that to be an apt description of the times we live in today.

We can withstand the enemy outside—it is the enemy within that is the most dangerous.

We will soon be at odds with our own countrymen to a degree not seen in 150 years.

God bless.

R, I feel th3e same weight.

I was sitting in the VFW friday night and was lamenting “what have we been fighting for”?

Good men do the work to defend the Constitution and we get usurped from the inside by communist moles.

We see them, we warn people and we get laughed at.
Now it has become sinister, they are taking names and I am going dark, but I will never stop fighting,

No doubt in my mind, we are in the last ditch. As soon as the decision came on Friday, here's what I sent to my County Commissioners:

Now that the Supreme Court has struck down Tennessee state law regarding marriage, it is clear that "consent of the governed" is of no consequence to the "powers that be" in Washington, D.C..

I urge to you seriously consider resisting this revolutionary decision. Continue to follow the laws of Tennessee that existed yesterday.

They are assuming that the people will meekly submit to this outrageous assault on not only American liberty, but on thousands of years of human history.

Let's prove them wrong from the Frontier of Freedom.

REFUSE AND RESIST.

----------------------------------------------------

I sent this around eleven o'clock. By noon, local media was reporting the the County Clerk was issuing licenses for faux marriages..

But, I refuse to quit. It's the peaceful options here in the last ditch.

Here is the problem with the pink Mafia, they don’t want equal rights, they want SPECIAL rights and they intend to break the church and have the Gov rewrite the word.
I don’t care who does what and who does who until you start doing me.

Suggestion to the generic anyone, rather than to you personally, Windflier.
Don’t wait for the lottery, the cavalry, or the sweet bye-and-bye.
Retire now.
Cut back until you make less money and you won’t have to file a federal tax return. If every conservative did this the government would pay attention or collapse.
Yes you would be inconvenienced. You’d actually suffer. You’re suffering now, and the enemy is not.
In times that try men’s souls, patriots don’t behave like sheep. They fight. If you can’t bring yourself to fight, stop helping the wicked.
And for God’s sake take the kids out of public school.
You want to be free like our forefathers, start living like they lived.

Well said my FRiend!

My brother & I were having this exact conversation last night.

Ted Cruz is also the first candidate I’ve ever donated to and offered my support.
