Amazon.com is making a HUGE mistake with their recent banning of sales of the Confederate flag. Not only is this a marketing blunder, they've got a LONG way to go if they're going to start banning offensive items. Amazon, are you ready to REALLY impact your future sales? You've got a LOT of work to do now that you've opened Pandora's box. What about the book entitled 'The International Jew; The World's Foremost Problem'? This is offensive to Jews and should be banned! Why is Amazon worried about offending their black customers (Confederate flag ban) but not Jewish customers? What about communist flag merchandise or Che Guavara t-shirts and coffee mugs? He was a mass murderer!
Hey Amazon, YOU'VE GOT A LOT MORE BANNING TO DO IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT OFFENDING YOUR CUSTOMERS!
They sell many offensive things. What about this:

Gee, does amazon have “white lives matter” t shirts for sale? :-)
Sounds like a book Jimmy Carter would have written.
What you say is true, but I still think its ok to point out the hypocrisy and double standard.
Amazon has made a calculation based on a premise that the majority of Americans support such a ban. I think they are wrong, and one side is just a lot ‘noisier’ than the other. So no harm in being noisy right back.
They only have white models for their “black power” tshirts? Whats up with that?
Now Amazon is going to be FLOODED with requests to ban other offensive items, which will NEGATIVELY IMPACT their bottom line. THIS IS WHY THEY MADE A HUGE MISTAKE IN ‘OPENING PANDORA’S BOX’ BY BANNING THE CONFEDERATE FLAG!
Amazon is free to carry whatever merchandise they please, just as a baker should be free to accept any commission to create an artistic product. Conversely both should be free to not carry or make an exhibit that they wish. Both will be subject to the whims of the market place.
Amazon will not be substantially hurt and they will not face any hate crime accusations for offending southerners and states rights advocates. They have deemed in their best interest to drop the flag, for now.
While it is aggravating to see businesses roll over so easily, it is not the business with which we have a grievance, but the state that is an ever ominous threat to those who would stand against its whims . The bakers paid and are paying a price for a deeply held conviction, amazon has no deep conviction for the confederacy or state rights and they have chosen not pay the price for the defiance of the PC police.
Supporting a ban and supporting the Confed. flag are two separate issues. One might dislike the flag but also be AGAINST the ban. I think there are millions who fall into this category.
If you have any understanding of how Corporate America works these days, then you know this moves likely comes from the attorneys in the Risk-Management Department, as much as it does the boardroom.
If some nutjob shoots up someplace while flying a confederate flagbought on Amazon, they could face tens of millions of dollars in potential liability, or at the least, spending millions fighting it and the bad press.
In the corporate world, in the fundamentally-changed litigious Amerika, it’s just cheaper and easier to say no, than to take any risk.
WHY do you think so many companies are relocating operations out of America? This is but just one of the reasons.
Three people close eBay and Amazon accounts. 300,000 PC tyrannists cheer the companies. Who is winning?
It is clear that psychopath shot the wrong people!
Why don’t you point out the obvious next time.
So what is your plan of attack?
Our founders warned us of these people and they've infiltrated the GOP.
What a perfect way to defeat your rivals.
central_va: You are comparing the Confederate flag to Sodomites? Really?
Sopater: No, he’s comparing the right for any privately owned companies to ban or refuse to provide any items that they wish to, and to live with any consequences that may result.
Thank you, Sopater, you are correct. The actual beliefs are not that similar.
(My post 44 on earlier discussion indicates some thoughts on the arguments:

True. But this hurts Amazon's brand. They like to be thought of as the site you can go to for anything that's legal. If they stop being that, what's the point of Amazon?
The global corporate elite folks are assuming that southerners aren’t technically inclined enough to make their own flags and are putting the theory to the test.
I find gay flags objectional and decisive. Che T shirts? Histoy...oh what a list!
None, other than securing my family for coming persecution. The country's been given over to Lucifer. I took down my American flag, refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and declared the country to be morally bankrupt on January 22, 1973. Likely I will reiterate my non-pledge of allegiance next week with the USSC decision.
