Bruce Jenner was once hailed as the greatest athlete in the world and later became a reality television star with one of the world's most famous families. Now, the former Olympian is revealing a secret that has caused him turmoil for decades.
"For all intents and purposes, I'm a woman," Jenner told ABC's Diane Sawyer in an exclusive interview that aired Friday in a special two-hour edition of ABC News' "20/20."
"People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life -- it is part of me," Jenner, 65, said. "That female side is part of me. That's who I am."

I chuckled at Bruce’s statement he is a Republican.
I’m a Republican too. My brother taught me to be a Conservative. Oh, my brother was gay ... really. Life is strange. Sadly, my bro died years ago. He believed gays should NOT marry. Believed firmly that marriage is between a man and a woman.

That which formerly must not be mentioned, just can’t seem to shut up now. I could care less what he is or what soap opera like drama is happening.
We all got problems, but going on TV and whining about it just isn’t my idea how to act. Suck it up and get on with life is what I have to say. I’m sick of hearing it all. That’s why I use the remote to change channels or turn it off totally.

All I can do, when I see his lost and confused face, is to pray for him, as I pray for all of us.
His misery is obvious to us, but our own misery could be hidden from ourselves, as we search for a sense of superiority, in an misguided effort to hide from our own failures and flaws.
We are all lost in this messed up world, and because we are blind to our own faults, so we choose instead to focus on his. None of us gets brownie points in heaven for being a bit better in our sense of the “sin scale” than Bruce Jenner, in our worldly conditioning.
Jesus went willingly to the cross for all of our sins, no matter how big or small. Our silly delusions that we are a bit better that some other miscreant poor misled sinner, and therefore we are more deserving isn’t how I think it works
Our shared human hubris is a sin in itself. We have all fallen short, each of us in our own idiosyncratic ways.
That doesn’t mean to say we do not excuse those who try to justify sin, or that we shouldn’t notice the ways our fellow humans have been led astray. We should be sad for their failures, and we should pray for their salvation, as we pray for our own flaws and failures.
We all need to turn away from the illusions, corruption, and nonsense of this world, but we should be kind, as Jesus was, to those among us who are deluded, lost, and stuck. We can pray for them as we pray for our own sins and errors.
Worldly success is no protection from ultimate failure in His eye.
I have many gay friends from when I was in the hotel industry. Their opinion, except for 3 of them, is just like you said your brother believed. All but 3 think gay marriage is wrong.

I believe this is all fake. These people will do anything for money and they love attention. They are attention whores.
My problem is that by doing this interview he is trying to pass it off as something normal and that should be accepted and embraced.

You’re right. The human condition on planet Earth is crazy And messed up. I just wish that conservativea and especially Christian conservatives would speak with a bit more restraint though. It demeans the point.

That’s not the point.
Sometimes I dislike FReepers because of their deep unkindness to things they disagree with. They are as bad as liberals, only accepting others if their every thought or action is pleasing to them.
A truly decent person would let others live their lives according to their own happiness.
But since FReepers never sin or never have worrisome problems to which solutions are hard to find, I guess they can mock away.
Jenner was being honest, telling America what his life was like when his identity inside didn’t match his body. How hard that would be. He is a conservative and a good person. And has had this difference his whole life.
It takes courage not to laugh at him but to wish him the best. I don’t know what the best is, but I wish it for all good people. Life is hard and short enough. Kindness is a gift for those who give it and receive it.
