My son is graduating from college! Worked his way through on his own! As a gift, I am taking him to NYC. Staying with my sister in Queens.
I want to do just ONE thing that is extra special- like to a taping of the The Tonight Show?
Any ideas, suggestions?
We will be going to see Statue of Liberty, Coney Island, Central Park, etc... But I am looking for one thing that will stand out for a young man graduating college-- no girlie clubs! MOM is on this trip!
Outstanding.

Last fall they were charging $50 a head....having been at the top a couple of times already, I passed.
last one:
Walk into Grand Central Station and just look around.
I am the mom!! LOL!! this whole trip is just the two of us...
What is the Circle Line?
We plan to ride bike across Brooklyn bridge- should we walk instead?
Broadway show and South Street both sound awesome!
Yes- the memorial is on the list- and the food! YES! thanks so much
Fraunces Tavern
YES- A game sounds great— we love baseball!
If you like Art, the Metropolitan is FANTASTIC.
If you have been to one of the better Natural History Museums, like The Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh or the Smithsonian in Washington, I think you will find the Natural History Museum disappointing, but if you've never been to any other, it's decent.
Saint Patrick's Cathedral is beautiful. That is midtown right off the subway. If you take a cab up to Harlem, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine is awe-inspiring. [In fact, depending on how much walking you intend to do in Central Park -- which is huge -- St. John's is right off the end of the upper west side of the Park.]
The subway goes right down to the The World Trade Center/Memorial. Well worth seeing.
The subway also goes to both the Citi Field and the New Yankee Stadium. [But don't hang around in the South Bronx after the game.]
One of my favorite things to do is to just walk down Park Avenue from Central Park, through the Helmsley Building and into Midtown. It's the heart of the City, like walking through a Grand Canyon made by Capitalism.
AH! pizza shop in Queens- Little Italy? great idea! So Empire State Building seems to be popular? I thought it was overrated, but FREEPers are convincing me I am wrong on that!
Get your picture taken in front of the bull at Wall Street and Broadway.
This is a good thing to combine with ground zero, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty because of their proximity.
Central Park is beautiful in spring.I was there last week but it hadn't started to bloom yet.
thanks! never thought of the Chrysler building.
OK, really the last one.
Go to Times Square at midnight(it will be as bright as day).
The Rock! Cool— was wanting to do that
Better still just don’t go there and give the socialist cess pit money.
oooh— a drink at ritzy place!! I am thinking we might try to get as many pics as we can with “door men” of famous places!!!
In 1965 our high school senior trip included a trip to the New York World’s Fair. We saw all of the standard sights.
Of course there is no Worlds Fair now but the thing I enjoyed most was taking a boat trip around Manhattan Island. It was relaxing and fun.
Walk around Greenwich Village.
Intrepid! GOT IT!
Ride the ferry to Governor’s Island just for the view of the city. Or Staten Island Ferry.
