"he [the cop] didn't understand why the man ran away"
Some of you may remember the Sagon Penn murder trial from San Diego.
Here is a fairly accurate account of the Sagon Pen Police shooting
Hate when I see the races being discussed as if he was targeted because he is black .
This could have happened to a white guy and this would never have been mentioned. Just more race baiting.
He ran because he was an idiot; he was afraid of going back to jail for failure to pay child support ($18,000) and he clearly wasn’t thinking. That’s probably why he resisted arrest, although obviously, since the police already knew who he was, they would have come later and picked him up anyway. It wouldn’t have done him any good to run, but he doesn’t sound like somebody whose life was exactly in order.
However, he certainly wasn’t doing anything that merited being shot in the back eight times.
Wow didn’t know he killed himself.
Since they had his name, his car, and his buddy sitting in the passenger seat, they definitely had no reason to shoot at him. After thinking it over, he undoubtedly would have come in.
It doesn’t matter why the guy ran away. You don’t shoot him down in the back for running away from a traffic stop.
Why did you mention that trial? There doesn’t seem to be any parallel, at all.
It's wasn't just jail, it was debtor's prison he'd been in twice before and for which he had no money to pay for legal counsel. Look up info on the bias against men in family court - it's destroyed tens of thousands of men.
Definitely not, yet through the smokescreen, it’s clear that this was not a case on caliber with others because the person was not assaulting or shooting at the cop, both of which would merit the cop defending himself. He was running away, chances are Walter Scott would likely either come back or be eventually found, as he likely didn’t have any stash for camping out and left his car, home, and supplies on a spur of the moment reaction.
Maybe a bit of a tangent but it shows that law enforcement is not learning from their mistakes. David Koresh of Branch Davidian/Waco fame, way back to 1993... The law could have picked him up on one of his regular walks for groceries but instead decided (for no good reason) to use their military toys. I think what we see here is just a mini-version of the same situation.
Agreed. 100%
“The supervisor suggests to Slager, “When you get home, it would probably be a good idea to kind of jot down your thoughts on what happened the adrenaline is just pumping.””
Do all murder suspects get the chance to go home and jot down their thoughts prior to making a statement?
I think you’re right on it. Should have just picked him up later at his house. This didn’t warrant getting blasted in the back.
Sure he did...he ran backwards right into the bullets.

Well to be fair he wasnt a murder suspect at the time, although SLED had found issues at the scene.
But he had 7 or 8 grand to pay for a Mercedes?
You were there? You know that for certain?
Some of those men might try not creating children who require child support until such time as they can afford the support? And some women could learn to keep their legs crossed until they’re with a man they’re married to who can and will support any child(ren) that might be conceived. Just a thought.
