My first-ever vanity post... After some amount of web-surfing, it sounds like the IRS is claiming that processing tax returns and issuing refunds may be expected to take longer than normal. They blame this variously on a long-ago shutdown , Obamacare, and lack of funding.
So I'm soliciting actual FReeper experiences with 2014 tax refunds and how long it took to get them.
If you filed and received your refund, I'd be interested to know roughly when you filed and how long it took.
If you filed and HAVEN'T yet received a refund, same thing.
Full disclosure: I e-filed last weekend and am just wondering how long to expect to wait.
Was filed electronically.
Maybe I’m going to be audited. As a white conservative, I am an enemy of the state. :)
It’s a little known fact, but a couple with whose income is ALL qualified dividends can receive nearly $90K in income and pay 0% tax.
That kind of dividend income would require a stock portfolio in the $2-3 million range.
I’ll bet there are some Freepers like that.....
We filed by mail early in March, and the refund was in the bank just after 3 weeks.
You are showing a glaring ignorance of how withholding and refunds work, as well as insulting many FReepers, who do, indeed, pay taxes.
Filed paper, and the refund was here in 30 days.
Are you just tossing mud up to see who is offended? This does not seem to be the appropriate venue for complaining about “takers”.
I paid my taxes last sunday, so the treasury should have plenty of money for refunds.
You aren’t joking...of course he/she paid taxes they just got them back. Some people get the break prior to filing and some afterward.
Good news for you (us - all FReeper enemies of the state) is that IRS also claims they don’t have enough funding to perform as many audits as they want to.
Thanks. Most early filers were reporting two weeks. Three for a March filing may be a good indicator.
Thank You!
We got ours in a little over two weeks; filed in February.
However, our taxes are very simple. It could be that people with lots of deductions and complications take longer.
For years now, it has only taken two to three weeks; and we mail it in, we don’t ‘e-file’.

They sent me a bill for more!
Don’t believe that for one second. The IRS has 70,000 new agents just looking for that fool.
Filed electronically through HR Block software....six days from filing until refund.
Naps, some people overpay; and that’s why they get a refund.
Jeez...

This is the first time EVER we owe taxes:(
We received snail mail from the IRS stating that all was not right with our Turbo Tax return—possible fraud. Paper returns were filed four weeks ago. Waiting. Angry at Turbo Tax.
It’s no fun writing that check.
Please be silent for a time. It will do FR some good.
