Full Title: Strong cannabis causes one in four cases of psychosis: Users three times more likely to have an episode than those who have never tried it ªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªª As many as a quarter of new cases of psychotic mental illness can be blamed on super-strength strains of cannabis, scientists will warn this week. The potent form of the drug known as skunk is so powerful that users are three times more likely to have a psychotic episode than those who have never tried it.

Reefer Madness?
Today’s pot is far more potent than the pot available back in the 70s, and by a factor of about 10. Also, the synthetic pot, “spice,” is particularly bad. Some types can cause long term or permanent psychotic episodes.
reffer madness...choom madness ess all the same main
Im wondering just how MUCH of it Obie Smokes...
Why do you think he golfs so much? I’ll bet he tokes his blunt around the 4th tee, and gets a refresher on the 17th.
I distrust these reports more and more.
these are just mentaly ill people smoking pot and getting into trouble.
I know for a fact because I took a survey....
and 5 out of the 8 voices in my head said “There lying”
yeah, but, but, but....people got da rights to do whatever they want to no matter what because psychosis is a victim less crime....NOT!......destroys families, causes crime, increases health care costs and weed ultimately destroys lots of brain cells, not that those that use it regularly have any brain cells...
The only problem with smoking pot is it makes Liberals even more stupid than they already are.
and Conservatives get smarter and more creative!!!
Legalize it and Conservatives will Run this World once again.
Smells like bullshit...
President Ronald Reagan and his beautiful wife Nancy were 100% right when they declared a war on drugs. America needs to redouble its efforts to stamp out the scourge of dope in all forms.
This result seems to be an outlier. Pot has been linked to schizophrenia and reduced short term memory in the past but not to this degree.
I wouldn’t take this one paper too seriously without a lot of replication.
“Those in the first group had all suffered first-episode psychosis a diagnosed first occurrence of the disorder.
The second group were volunteers who agreed to answer questions about themselves including on cannabis use and mental health history.
Some had suffered psychosis, others not. They were not told the nature of the project. The academics found those in the first group were more likely to smoke cannabis daily and to smoke skunk than those in the second.”
This seems like a flawed methodology to me. The second group, the control group, is being asked to self-diagnose psychosis (or being judged for psychosis through self reported data), while the first group was medically diagnosed properly. Therefore, the data about the incidence of psychosis in the second group is not comparable to the first.
I havent been close enough to anybody who smokes the stuff to notice its aroma
Yeh. I used to smoke it with three friends and none of them are showing any sinister effects...uh-oh...
ya dont suppose that thats what happened to Harry Reid ??
