A can of Coke could soon look like a pack of Marlboros, if one Bronx lawmaker has his way.
Assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz has introduced the Sugar-Sweetened Beverages Safety Warning Act which would require tobacco-style health- warning labels on all sugary drinks, such a cola, iced tea and energy drinks.
The labels would read: SAFETY WARNING: Drinking beverages with added sugar contributes to obesity, diabetes and tooth decay.

Seems like we had lessons on that in elementary school in the 1970s.
Warning: Life will kill you...
i think all politicians should wear big-ass warnings on them.
may lie to your face. may regard you as their personal wallet. may take your freedoms away and expect a thank-you for doing it.
if they are also lawyers, another big warning sign for that, too.
We should put warning labels on liberals.
“Assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz has introduced the Sugar-Sweetened Beverages Safety Warning Act”
He should change it to Dimowitz. As in dim bulb.
How come faggots don’t have warning signs tattooed to their buttocks and by their junk warning other faggots that this activity can lead to AIDS and ultimately death?
“Did a safety warning ever stop someone from smoking?”
A comedian named Bill Hicks used to do a bit on that, back when they started doing different kinds of warning labels on cigarettes.
“You know how every cigarette pack has a different surgeon general’s warning on it?. Mine say, “Smoking may cause low birth weight.” Hey, screw it! I found my brand. Just don’t get the ones that say lung cancer, you know? Shop around, find a disease you can live with. ‘What are you smoking, Dave?’ ‘Throat Polyps. Want one?’ ‘No thanks, I’ll stick with my Yellow Fingernails.’
:-)
Anyone who doesn’t know by now can’t read anyway.
How about Warnings on Politicians?
Whenever a Democrat wants more regulations, especially with respect to some product, substance or service, the universal axiom that you can depend on is that there is MONEY involved there somewhere.
My guess is the legislation, rule, regulation - whatever will be worded that ‘something’ used as a sweetener will be exempt. Don’t know what that is right now, maybe wrong - it could just be taxes or extortion of sugar producers and bottlers for ‘campaign donations’ or just outright payola.
The one thing you can count on is that it is about money and power.
“Warning: Being a single mother may lead to eligibility for multiple government handouts.”
Dumb. All the same, the crap government pushed on citizens for years has contributed greatly to the problem with obesity. Government run schools that are so incompetent they can budget resources for decent PE is another culprit. The food pyramid is a high-carb scam and cholesterol studies are a proven fraud. How many years was margarine push on us before we proved it was closer to a metabolic poison than anything edible?
The government brought us to this precipice on health and healthcare. If we are going to right our direction as a nation, it won’t involve taking direction from socialist scum.
...it comes down to self-control...no matter what the regulations are - people are going to do what they are going to do and suffer the consequences...until they make the individual choice to learn why they are obese - then no law or warning label is going to change that - just wasted money and time...if parents don't want a Hunny Boo Boo...then don't feed them crap and ignore parent standards of discipline...simple logic here...not more govt is what is needed...
I remember those films — the ones that actually had to be loaded onto a projector...ones that talked about sugar and why a child should pick the healthy choice - not the popular sugar one...then again, we played with our imagination and didn’t depend on a computer game to do it for us...we ran, fell, got cuts and bruises, drank from a garden hose, build forts, etc....fun times...
Yes, we got out more in the 70s. My brother and I would walk two miles to the 7-11 to get Slurpees, when we had $.25 each. They came in real plastic cups with baseball players on them.
Oh, my. I remember that! Also “Time for Timer,” that had a little alarm clock that sang songs about health. As soon as the people said “4-4-3-2” I remembered the song. “Eat 4, 4, 3, and 2 ... from all the groups, it’s best for you!”
Yeah......self control is the key.
You know, young people think they are immortal. And getting diabetes takes years of abuse to your body. This warning will mean nothing to them.
You want to scare the bejeebers out of them? Put THIS warning on the soda can:
“Hey dumbass! Drinking tons of soda and not exercising to work it off will make you so fat you’ll never get laid.”
Now that’s a warning they might listen to.
