President Obama announced Sunday that hell use his executive authority to designate 12 million acres in Alaskas Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) as wilderness, walling it off from resource development. This abrogates a 1980 deal in which Congress specifically set aside some of this acreage for future oil and gas exploration. Its also a slap at the new Republican Congress, where Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski has been corralling bipartisan support for more Arctic drilling.

“You know, windmill versus solar.”
Both useless crap!
Eliminate the subsidies and both will be gone!
If I am in dreamland, what do you propose?
Wait until 2017 for the GOP to find its testicles?
Reagan went over the heads of a Dem majority Congress in both houses and got his agenda passed time and time again.
Let’s see how Keystone XL goes down.
That will be passed, and when Odumbo vetoes it, the American people will have to make it known even to their Dem reps, that they want it.
The Dems know there is an election two years away, and Odumbo is the biggest and worst anchor they have.
The fourth quarter will be very interesting.
You left out the letter “L” in bowing, and you inadvertently added the word “to”
Yes, no coincidence that this comes as he meets with the new Saudi Arabian king.
Just another land grab to keep Alaska from oil and gas exploration and drilling.
Obama is a child the republicans have thoroughly spoiled, he throws fits and gets a pat on the head now now little boy we don't want to put you in the corner; we love you so much; but next time you throw a fit in public we might do something you won't like; sorry we yelled at you; can we get a smile; yeah that's a good boy you can go play now.
Thanks SunkenCiv for the linkys.
Do you know what it takes to override a veto?
Its not free money.

Agree. Note that “free” was in quotes.
Interesting story about the bridge. I wasn’t aware of that.
Republicans talk a lot. They are also big on posturing and promising. However, they come up far short of their rhetoric when it comes to producing any meaningful results or accomplishments. Yet the base keeps voting for them year after year. Why keep buying a defective product?
Yes, and it can be done.
When enough pressure is applied by the American people, politicians do what is need for their own survival.
The alternative is to throw in the towel—to hell with that.
And if another Rat or RINO elected, they won’t overturn Obama’s many decrees.
Its a matter of making a sacrifice for greater good down the road.
Canada is paying the entire cost of the bridge so we get a billion dollar break there but they can’t legally pay for the customs plaza or highway changes due to them being federal responsibility. Michigan takes the $250 million hit but will more than regain it in things like warehousing jobs, factory jobs revenue from customs etc. (Detroit is the second busiest freight crossing on the continent after Laredo).
The feds won’t turn down their cut.
Seriously, what are those women doing in that photo?
” When enough pressure is applied by the American people, politicians do what is need for their own survival.”
As I said you’re in dreamland. You’re going to get the sheeple to exert pressure on enough Democrats to vote against Dumb’O and the greenies over ANWR?? When 90+% of the people haven’t a clue as to what ANWR is?
My pleasure!
Bowing to the king.
We were discussing Keystone XL.
However, the same principle applies to ANWR.
And if you do not believe it can be done, then there is no remedy to the status quo, thus you are completely wasting your time on this website.
“We were discussing Keystone XL.”
Actually the article is about ANWR.
“And if you do not believe it can be done, then there is no remedy to the status quo, thus you are completely wasting your time on this website.”
That’s what you call a “straw man argument” - totally fallacious.
As for why I’m in this website... one reason is to occasionally bring a dose of reality to the discussion.
And if you think for a micro minute that people are going to get so enraged at Dumb’O’s executive order on ANWR that they’ll scare the democrats to vote with the republicans to override his veto, you don’t live in the real world.
