I like your neck of the woods. It’s a lot greener than the pictures in the posed article. Those were nice, but they didn’t seem to be taken at an especially lush time of year. Yours are vibrant.

I enjoyed my three years in Darien (GA) following my retirement, but I moved back to Washington state because of the humidity and the mosquitos.

Pretty much. This would be better titled Flyover Anywhere, USA.

How do these backwards folk with smiles on their faces get along without “buzzfeed” and Oprah.com? Some things I suppose I will just never know. Oh well. Time for another frozen yoga tofu snack and i-nutrient social yoga infusion. Namaste! PS love the Yankees cap! No wonder he’s all alone.

I love that Spanish Moss
remember it from early childhood vacations along Gulf Coast Mississippi. My dad called them “trees with whiskers,” always made me giggle.

In BCT in '69 the two most often played songs at the PX on Saturday night were "Someday We'll Be Together" by the Supremes and "Don't It Make You Want To Go Home" by Joe South. Not having had a girlfriend at that time I had no use for "Someday".But Joe South's work became one of my favorite songs of all time...along with "Heart Of The Night" by Poco.I grew up in the suburbs of Boston but have had a fascination with Southern life since was a kid.
But I would have had a problem growing up in the South...I *HATE* heat and humidity.

Oh, please. This was not intended to be flattering, by any means. Everyone has either a beer or a gun in their hand — and in some cases, both.

Ha! Cat Ladies, Unite!
(We’re looking for a new one, after losing our last of three old cats a couple of months ago. We’d had the bunch for almost 20 years.)
I also really love CrippleCreek’s pics of his environment; but I don’t think I could stand the winters...

There are people in the USA who enjoy live where ever they live, you just have to look.
There are also people who are miserable no matter what paradise they are in.

South Carolina is a state of mind. Every slow minute is savored...there is no hurry...standing and staring at water for hours not concerned about the world or people around you. That’s South Carolina...you are your own person and your own boss...it’s a state of mind.
