If the government had any stones they would issue a threat that if any officer is harmed the criminal will be hunted down like a rabid dog.

The NYPD and their propagandists (I am looking at you Heather Macdonald) are merely following Rahm’s dictum to never let a crisis go to waste, even though there is NO crisis of police officers being targeted.
