"I long for the classy days of DeBartolo, Walsh, Montana, Young, Rice, Craig, Clark..."

I agree, but I suspect SF was a much different city back then.

“I agree, but I suspect SF was a much different city back then.”

Not that different - DiFi was Mayor, it’s politics were just as loony. Though, Eddie DeBartolo, the owner, wasn’t from San Fran, he was from Ohio.

My bet is he ends up with Da Bears.

As yet another highly touted CFL coach fails to cut it south of the border. It’s the Curse of Bud Grant.

He’s reportedly unhappy with the management, and the players are not listening to him. I don’t like the SOB, but he’s been a great head coach. SF’s kinda screwed up, in sort of the same way the Lions were when Millen was running/ruining things.

he is not the cause of the Niner crappy season... he is a good coach... problems stem with the Yorks... getting rid of Harbaugh will only make the team he goes to better... honestly...

That loss Saturday was a killer, blowing a 21-point lead. I think Harbaugh is too intense for the pro game, his players just tune him out eventually. But, that attitude and mentality is perfect for college, where your entire team turns over every four years. Michigan will offer him twenty million minimum for five years. He’d be crazy not to take it.

Colin Kaepernick is just not that good. Running, he’s fantastic. Make him stay in the pocket though, and he breaks down.

Well, the Bears need to do something... Trestman and Cutler hasn’t worked.

This Hawkeye agrees. Hopefully Michigan will pick him up. It sure sounds like he is headed to Ann Arbor.

There's a reason Jay Cutler is called "the coach killer." Every single head coach that's worked with him has been fired.

Personally I just want to drive down the road and see the moving truck at his home (he lives 1.25 miles away from me.)

Good riddance! Word is the Tennessee Titans are interested in him ....

The School Up North — Woody Hayes’ euphemism for the University of Michigan. Buckeye lore suggests Woody could not bring himself to say the name of that state, thus TSUN. Also there is similar usage of TTUN by Buckeye fans, The Team Up North. Rather childish, but it is part of the rivalry which is about the only excitement the BIG 14 football has going for it anymore.

My friend Jane would love that idea. She’s a hardcore Bills fan and also likes the 49ers.

Classic! The 10 year war between Woody and Bo was intense. Yet somehow the intensity got hyped into hatred (real or perceived) between the two teams that ultimately hurt the programs, but did instill great commercials such as shown in your comments.

Maybe I just don’t know enough about the finer points of football, but I thought it was a golden opportunity for the 49ers to keep both Smith and Kaepernick and have a 2-QB offensive style. Kaepernick is good at running and scrambling (mostly) so Smith can take the snaps and if there’s an open receiver, pass. If not, pitch to Kaepernick who has the option of running and getting out of bounds before taking too much punishment, or having that extra moment out of the pocket to give the receivers a second look and make the pass.

Thoughts?

That is so stupid. I understand he’s kind of a PITA, but he got them to 3 conference championships in a row, 1 completed pass away from a 6th trophy. He made them relevant again for the first time in over a decade. Getting rid of him is a big mistake, hope they got a lot of pictures from the top of the barrel because they’re going back down to the bottom for another decade.
