Vegas sucks. I went there on business once for a conference. The only way I’m going back is if I have a nuke in the trunk of my car.
We stayed at the Luxor because they had $50 rooms. I knew it was a mistake the second I walked in. The place stank like the ashtray of a 30 year old taxi. I had to wait in line for an hour and a half to check in. I would’ve canceled and went somewhere else but in Vegas, your credit card gets billed the second you hit the send button for a reservation and it’s non-refundable.
There’s two Vegas’s. The 1%-ers get the special restaurants, bars, swimming pools, and everything else that have no waiting, a dozen people in the place, and an over-manned staff that waits on them hand and foot. The rest of us are livestock.
Due to the numerous complaints, our conference was in Vegas once and it’s never going back. Thanks for the education. Screw you, Vegas.
Never been there, but I tend to agree. What’s funny is the description of LA being “the whole city is a lie.” Goes double for Vegas.
I took our French friends Vegas, Death Valley, Yosemite, SF, down the coast back to SD. In vegas (1 night) Iasked if they wanted to stay another night. All four looked at me and said no thanks 1 is enough.
I see Vegas as a pretty glittery rock
When you flip it over all you see are bugs worms maggots and black widow spiders
Vegas is one of my favorite cities. Even if you’re not a gambler or into shows, there are other things to see and do.
The hotels on the Strip can be awful, but there are some decent hotels in the suburbs if you don’t mind the commute The hotel rates are often way less than those on the Strip. These hotels have more of a neighborhood feel instead of the glitzy Strip feel. Often more relaxing than being on the Strip.
I agree. Back in the day, Vegas was cool. Went back in 2011—what an overpriced crap-hole. Was also underwhelmed by Athens too. Beijing was a smogfest, but the Imperial City was cool.
Most awesome foreign cities? Oslo, Munich, Salzburg, Rome, Prague, and Jerusalem.
Best American cities? New York, Boston, Washington DC, San Diego, and Seattle.
“We stayed at the Luxor because they had $50 rooms...The rest of us are livestock.”
No offense but this is ridiculous. You get what you pay for, not just in Vegas. 50 bucks won’t get you a decent motel in a podunk town.
Vegas has an awful sewer smell along portions of The Strip.
Where dreams of riches stink like sh#t.
I visited Vegas one weekend, in 1975. The mob still ran the place and it was clean, fun and safe.
