[I love the idea of going to Mars. We humans are explorers and pioneers. But if government does this, it will be just too costly, like the Apollo Moon program. Elon Musk of the private SpaceX company already has put rockets into space and he wants to send settlers to Mars, including himself. So since governments have screwed up this planet, how about reserving Mars for free people?!]
Breaking: NASA is sending humans to Mars
NASA has announced that a test launch of their Orion space capsule will take place on Thursday, in the first step of a mission that will take people to Mars by mid-2030.
In a live webcast, NASA has announced that its on its way to taking humans further than theyve ever been before, with the planned December 4 test flight of their Orion space capsule - the spacecraft that they say will soon take humans to the Red Planet.
According to Ryan Barrell at The Huffington Post, launching with the Space Launch System rocket, Orion will orbit the Earth twice for the first time on a 4.5-hour unmanned mission called Exploration Flight Test-1 to test various systems such as its 1,200 sensors and launch abort system. The capsule will be flying at about 5,800 kilometres above the Earth, which is roughly 15 times the height that the International Space Station is orbiting at.
When its done, the capsule will splash down into the Pacific Ocean, and the US Navy will pick it up. "We do have radiation sensors on board, for example, so we're actually measuring different parts of the vehicle for what we're seeing, what the environment is inside," Orion program manager Mark Geyer told the press today. "We have 1,200 sensors, and a lot of those are loads, so they measure

What do they have against Mars!?!
Someday. Maybe. Just not in any of our lifetimes.
Send Obama, he’s an alien!
SEND OBAMA...PLEASE!!!
The US manned space program was gutted by Obama so I suppose any trip to Mars will either on a Russian spacecraft or a by private US company.
According to democrat Sheila Jackass Lee, humans have already been there!

On a visit to the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 2005, Jackson Lee made embarrassing news by asking if the Mars Pathfinder had taken an image of the flag planted there in 1969 by Neil Armstrong.[2]
Prior to the 110th Congress, Jackson Lee served on the House Science Committee and on the Subcommittee that oversees space policy and NASA.

I would not have gotten on that Mayflower, send me a postcard please. PS. glad they did.
I would not have gotten on one of those wagon trains Westward. Send me a postcard, PS glad they did though.
I would never get on a space ship to anywhere. Send me a postcard, ps, I won't be alive to receive that postcard..
No one is going to Mars in that cramped little Apollo-era like space capsule. A flight to the Moon in Orion? — That is possible. But Mars — no way.
The NATO alliance sent Rock Hudson and a bunch of other has beens in that old miniseries.
It’s good to see that the political correctness of the Space Shuttle years are behind us.
The launch was scrubbed uptil tommorow at about the same time - if the wind cooperates, and if they can fix the flawed valves.
I want to be Captain Kirk, who does not want to be Captain Kirk. Who the hell does not want to be Captain Kirk?
This is America dammit!
Oh wait, we got a lot of third world dependents coming in that got to take care of..... Take me with you NASA!!!
Actually it was far more than a campaign promise ... There were lots of hearings and planning within NASA. It died because the Dems would not fund it.
