A team led by the University of Colorado Boulder has discovered an invisible shield some 7,200 miles above Earth that blocks so-called killer electrons, which whip around the planet at near-light speed and have been known to threaten astronauts, fry satellites and degrade space systems during intense solar storms.
The barrier to the particle motion was discovered in the Van Allen radiation belts, two doughnut-shaped rings above Earth that are filled with high-energy electrons and protons, said Distinguished Professor Daniel Baker, director of CU-Boulders Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP).

The latest mystery revolves around an extremely sharp boundary at the inner edge of the outer belt at roughly 7,200 miles in altitude that appears to block the ultrafast electrons from breeching the shield and moving deeper towards Earths atmosphere. Its almost like theses electrons are running into a glass wall in space, said Baker, the studys lead author. Somewhat like the shields created by force fields on Star Trek that were used to repel alien weapons, we are seeing an invisible shield blocking these electrons. Its an extremely puzzling phenomenon. A paper on the subject was published in the Nov. 27 issue of Nature.

Xactly
Fast particles encountering slow particles of the same kind very quickly reach an average speed. Half the momentum can be exchanged cutting the speed down by half each time it bounces with a slow counterpart. That is exponential slowing so it would look like some kind of shield if it encountered a cloud of similar particles.

That’s nothing compared to the mystery of the existence of matter itself, as we know it. You could make a religion out of the electron. I’m close to doing it!
Remember a discussion, approximately forty years ago, involving solar electron particles (solar mass ejections), speeds, reasons not bombarding Earth, implications if solar particles were bombarding Earth and discussion of hypothesis at the time as to why little to no penetration being was our atmosphere blocking entry at levels of six to eight miles out from surface but was no mention at that time of barrier being at 7,200 miles out from Earth’s surface.
LOL
Razorville was just another sleepy little town. Nothing much happened there until the day THE KILLER ELECTRONS CAME!!!
They tore into town on their scooters....shooting silly string at the locals and bothering the women!
“Excuse me, is there a Starbucks in this town?”
They were rebels rebelling against stuff!
“Do I want fries with my meal? Are you kidding, man? That’s for squares! Give me some onion rings.”
Nothing was too wild for them!
“You put your left foot in. You take your left foot out. You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself about.”
Eventually, they went too far!
“I’m not putting this grocery cart back in the grocery cart return area! What you gonna do about it?”
KILLER ELECTRONS! They are always negative!
This is new? When I was a kid I was taught the Van Allen belt diverted solar radiation to the poles, which causes the Aurora Borealis. No?

If they’re invisible, how did they find them?
>>>Well done, Mr. Scott!<<<
Transparent Aluminum.
“Dark matter” is not just invisible, it is also undetectable, and non-existent.
