Recent Mars Images (Marvin the Martian throws down the kaboom in a guest zot)

Posted on 10/08/2014 10:49:46 AM PDT by aardwolf46

All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:

That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.

A few items...

JPL uncensored video showing large-scale structure:

Raw JPL video:

Electrical device of some sort with helical coil wound around it
Device is on the left, about a third of the way down on the image

Gear of some sort.

Raw image showing gear:

Wheel - axle device

Raw NASA/JPL image:

Metallic container with handle

One final game-over category image

My mom didn’t bother looking for light.

She used my head as a megaphone.

In. There are so many things I have to do all at once this morning that I wish I were twins. Or better yet, triplets.

I don’t want to eat but it’s the pill-thing again.

Since I know Sparkle intends to be my overlord, I will allow her to think she is in charge. ;o]

Not to many marmalade cats are females. It’s a genetic thing, like calicos are mostly female, and a male is so rare they are worth a gazillion dollars, and most blue-eyed white cats are deaf.

Oh that’s why they check! Yes. Yes you can see light from the other side. It gets worse the older I get. :)

I for one, welcome our feline overlords.

Meow to Sparkle!

Good morning. Back from the gym, and then I cleaned the windows of the van. DP offered $20 for a child to do it, but nobody did, and now it’s too late for them.

I have to go to the Post Office later, after packaging pictures for various family members. I’ll get more stamps, too.

I have to go to the USPS in a bit, too. I have to return something of mine and something of Busdaddy’s and he can’t do it.

I just made an appointment for the pain management clinic for January 14. It was the earliest I could get. Another month being dizzy...unnngghhhh

May you have an easy month of it. And remember, this too shall pass.

BTW: never EVER say that to someone with a kidney stone. It makes them grumpy.

My mother used to say that all the time. But she added two words...

That’s not the kitten’s mother: it’s a male orange tabby that lives with the rescue-family.

Neutered males often make stupendous mom substitutes.

I checked the source, because ‘Face had commented on the kittehs’ coloring. They’re not related.

Jake is not much of a mom.

Ungh...

I’m tired. The stress of the morning was like nothing I’ve experienced in several years. I’ll tell you all about it by FReepmail.

I’m currently using a loaner computer, as mine just quit on me and I lost everything I was working on. I had to buy a thumb drive as they were going to restore it. I told them it had been done twice within the first month I got it. They pooh-poohed me. “We have to do it again.”

The upside is that I found an Ironman thumb drive on a chain! YAY!

In for the day!

Kitty love is a powerful thing, and at the end of the day, it’s a beautiful photo.

Bless our kitties, Ceiling Cat.

Umm..

You sure seem to be anathema to computer devices... ;-)

Son #1 could never keep a wristwatch functioning. Old fashioned stem winds. Self winds. Digital all-electronica thingies. Cheap Timexes. Much more expensive Boulivas. Made no difference, if he wore it on his wrist it committed suicide. With no bruises or abuse marks.

Our family lines haven't crossed somewhere that neither of us has discovered have they?

Not so far. But I had a friend who allowed watches to commit suicide by wrist, and the only watch that worked was the Bulova Accura. It hummed and if his arm was close to my pillow it kept me awake.

I had a friend in Texas who said her aura made watches run backward. I can almost believe it; she was funny. They moved to Washington State around the time we moved to Oklahoma and (isn’t Google wonderful) both work at Willamette State University.

I was rushing earlier and can’t remember if I told any of you, but Anoreth has orders to Camp Lejeune to teach Marines to shoot and do fun things with their ordnance. She’s disappointed about not getting posted to a ship on the Pacific Coast, but looking at places to live on the southern North Carolina islands is cheering her up. She might live on Topsail Island, where we vacation when we don’t go to the Myrtle Beach area.
