Every year it gets worse. It seems that the community college that both my daughters have attended is steadily becoming a hotbed of liberal teachers.
This time it's an America hating, military hating, obama loving history professor. Im sick of this crap and I'm making a stand. I wanted to get with the freeper brain trust to plan the best course of action.
I havent done anything. I suspect if I complain to the dean nothing will happen, because I think the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. I'm sure someone out there has experience dealing with this sort of thing. All I want is for teachers to teach, not attempt to indoctrinate. They've tried with all three of my children and have failed miserably, but how many times have they succeded?
Liberals in charge of selecting teachers choose liberal teachers. There are very few conservatives able to obtain such positions.
Of the four kids in my nuclear family, brought up with conservative values, the Lib teachers succeeded 3 times. I am the only Conservative in the bunch. Also the most successful and stable of the bunch. Pray for our country.
I wouldn’t do anything, personally. I had some doozies of liberal professors in college, but the last thing I would have wanted was mommy and daddy complaining to the college on my behalf.
“Every year it gets worse.”
And it has since about 1960 when Progressives descended on Washington and every other part of the country in droves after the Democrat victory.
Maybe they have to run their course, like a disease, or maybe they have to be exposed for who they are.
In any event, they’re everywhere, dressed in sheep’s clothing and if they didn’t reflect prevailing attitudes in society at large, they wouldn’t be there.
IMHO
The only stand you have from a practical viewpoint is to take your money elsewhere, if you can find it. Sad but true.
I had regular debates with him but he graded me well because the papers I wrote were clear, concise, and well documented.
If your daughter is willing to risk a bad grade, she should turn in a paper that successfully undercuts the leftist nonsense of the teacher.
If he is a decent person he will grade her properly. If not, she should try and drop the class without penalty. The one thing about liberal administrations is that they don't want their precious students or the parents of their precious students to be embarrassed by bad grades. So they tend to make it rather easy to drop classes without penalty and without the class ever appearing on the students' transcripts.
She should do something early in the quarter/semester to challenge the teacher in a respectful manner to see how he reacts.
If she absolutely has to take and pass the course, then she could pretend to be even more left than the professor. Basically espouse doctrinaire Leninist dogma which requires the dictatorship of the proletariat. This will confuse the heck out of the professor as he has to argue with her from the right.
Two Words:
Christian Colleges.
More words. I say that not knowing if there are even any Christian Junior colleges. But it must be understood....
Secular colleges are dangerous.
We could replace 95% of college professors with Youtube instructional videos. It's just that the Left has found a way to get people like you & me to fund the ongoing Revolution.
Pretty sweet gig, if you think about it.
I teach at the community college level, but I teach FAIRLY - in other words, I acknowledge both sides (conservative and liberal) and allow both sides to be argued. I am also frank in my conservatism, and do not demean liberal viewpoints. The thing I stress, above all else, is that rhetoric is a chess game. Once you upturn the table by insulting the other party, you lose.
I would suggest a letter to the V.P. of Instruction/Academics with a copy to the President of the College.
Of course showing up at the Board of Trustee/Regents monthly meetings and addressing the Board under the comments from the public section tends to get their attention...
Note:Most Community Colleges tend to be chummy with the local fish wraps. So plan accordingly.
Or just call the Board Members individually. After all that is why they are elected.
40 years ago my college career was delayed due to my enlistment, which turned out to be a good thing.
I started at a community college while I worked full time, and watched the instructors (largely moonlighting high school teachers), continue their indoctrination of students they’d been lying to all through high school.
I took them on several times, with great satisfaction, but it usually cost me a full letter grade.
My favorite was taking on the biology “prof’s” pro-abort, pro-euthenasia position. He wasn’t happy with my comparison of his position with a “master race” agenda, and a warning of what happens to him if his next illness lasted longer than government standards allowed.
Rather prescient for 1976, IMHO...
The professors are now living in a world where they cannot really compete against others to better themselves. The real world now escapes them.
Most are bitter because their pay is so very low. They see so many of their friends with real jobs making real money. And I wouldn’t call most of those teaching at a community colleges professor.
I’m currently in PhD study at a major (extremely liberal) university. Uncritical acceptance of liberalism is just a fact of life on the campus. I’m not sure it does much good trying to fight it without first establishing yourself. Just speak the truth when you have the opportunity, make it through the classes, if the teacher evaluates your performance based on their bias, make a stand there.
I’m writing a paper on sustainability. I’m going to let the literature speak, but if I see anything that connects it to Marxism, I’m jumping on that. I’m going to show that sustainability only flourishes within a Marxist paradigm. In other words, I’m going to give Marxism credit for engendering the sustainability movement. I’m pretty sure making this relationship explicit will make the academes uncomfortable.
Do you know about Congress’s constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers Smellin Salt?
There are also books you can get for them.
You also might have them check around to find the most conservative teachers at the college.
And check "Rate My Professor" and read the reviews.
Sometimes, when kids kids are prepared ahead of time and are placed in with liberals, they actually learn that they don't want to be a liberal.
Tell your child to write papers based on multiple theories of events. Explain cause by looking at results. Work up factual synopses, and discuss via categorization.
And blister the end of course review, including rate my professor, with a rant worthy of FR. Put that review under pseudonyms everywhere on the blogs.
Then, go online to Liberty.edu. Otherwise, remember that living well is the best revenge.
Apparently, if the MSM and federal law enforcement agencies are to be believed, beheading would not be an entirely out of line response.
I hope your committee does not receive federal grants. Or that the department doesn’t.
The politics of PhDs is a contact sport. Be careful.
Suggestion: Sign up for the liberal professor’s class. You would be able to set the record straight.
