I’m currently in PhD study at a major (extremely liberal) university. Uncritical acceptance of liberalism is just a fact of life on the campus. I’m not sure it does much good trying to fight it without first establishing yourself. Just speak the truth when you have the opportunity, make it through the classes, if the teacher evaluates your performance based on their bias, make a stand there.
I’m writing a paper on sustainability. I’m going to let the literature speak, but if I see anything that connects it to Marxism, I’m jumping on that. I’m going to show that sustainability only flourishes within a Marxist paradigm. In other words, I’m going to give Marxism credit for engendering the sustainability movement. I’m pretty sure making this relationship explicit will make the academes uncomfortable.
I hope your committee does not receive federal grants. Or that the department doesn’t.
The politics of PhDs is a contact sport. Be careful.
I tried something similar and actually got higher grades, but this was in an art school.
You’re in a Ph.D. program and you’re saying “speak the truth” when you can?
Are you serious? That’s not a good idea. Get your degree first. Really.
