NASCAR star Tony Stewart hit and killed another driver who was walking on the track in a sprint car race on Saturday night.
The other driver, Kevin Ward Jr., had collided with Stewart on the previous lap, leaving Wards car with a flat tire and pushed into the wall. As officials threw a caution, Ward left his car and began walking down the track gesturing angrily toward Stewart before being clipped and dragged 50 feet by Stewarts car.
Several spectators told Bob Pockrass of The Sporting News that Stewart appeared to throttle his car before colliding with Ward.

Yes, it happens and now it will just so happen that GoDaddy.com will have no further use of Stewart in the Danica commercials.

Guy won the Darwin award...walking onto a race track...Geez
Looks like Stewart didn't push his cart into the wall on purpose, but it's hard to tell from the video if Kevin Ward actually walked into his path after he did...
Either way, it doesn't look good...

Went to YouTube and watched the video....pretty clear Stewart hit Ward on purpose. Showed it to my husband without saying anything beforehand. His response? Wow......that driver aimed and throttled at the guy on the track!

I can’t bring myself to look at the entire video.
From descriptions I think charges are possible, along the lines of negligence.

The only reason I looked at the video was to see if there was any way it could have been avoided. The guy was in the middle of the track in the least safest place one could be on foot. Sad but I don’t see intent in this one.

What I saw was a hotheaded 20 year old running on the track with a race car headed towards him..!
Dumb move in my opinion. If the driver stayed in his car we wouldn't be talking about this..

Ontario County Sheriff Philip Povero said his department’s investigation is not criminal and that Stewart was “fully cooperative” and appeared “very upset” over what had happened.
“He was visibly shaken by this accident,” Povero said.
