I have spent a little time compiling links to threads about the Ebola outbreak in the interest of having all the links in one thread for future reference.
Please add links to new threads and articles of interest as the situation develops.
Thank You all for you participation.
Were they in the ambulance with Duncan? I thought that was specified.
CBSDFW: Frisco Patient Exhibiting Ebola Symptoms October 8, 2014 1:50 PMFRISCO (CSBDFW.COM) - An afternoon news conference has been called in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas, to discuss a possible second case of Ebola.
The patient claims to have had contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, referred to as Dallas patient zero.
It is not clear how the patient had contact with Duncan or if the patient was one of the about 50 people being monitored by federal, state and local health officials.
The call came in shortly after noon from Care Now, 301 Main Street, where the patient was exhibiting signs and symptoms of Ebola.
CBS 11 has confirmed that the patient checked yes to one of the screening questions regarding travel to West Africa. The facility is in contact with the Centers for Disease Control and is holding everyone in the facility until clearance is given by the CDC.
The patient is being transported to a nearby hospital by Frisco firefighter-paramedics.
First responders are also examining clinical staff and other patients. It is unknown how many other people may have been exposed to the patient.
The news conference will be held at 3 pm at Friscos Central Fire Station.
I suspect that you’re correct. I just read about a Liberian prostitute who gave Ebola to her John, who then infected seven others in the barracks. The John and others all died. I don’t know whether the hooker is alive.
If one is well enough to sell sex to a soldier and able to pass Ebola to that soldier, the “infected patients can’t do much” meme fails. (link at http://www.liberianobserver.com/news/ebola-kills-8-soldiers )
As far as I know, very few autopsies are done on ebola victims. In West Africa I imagine none are performed. But I don’t have any hard facts on that one.
I just saw that. Thank you for the ping.
*big gulp*
The question is— was this person on the list of contacts?
I have read that it is a woman. ???
We shall soon find out.
Thanks for the reply.
Seems to me Mr. Duncan would/should be scheduled for an autopsy with extensive tissue samples taken. Like flying in a NIH/USAMRIID team. Not sure I’d trust CDC to unwrap a lollipop today.
Side note: the mystery doctor that was at NIH Bethesda has been releases. Why is he the only ebola patient in the USA that has not been identified? Makes one wonder.
WFAA in Dallas has live feed as does the local fox station of the Frisco possible Ebola case.
The Case is being taken from a Frisco “doc in a box” to Texas Health Presby in Dallas.
The Suspected Ebola Case is on the CDC contact list for Thomas Eric Duncan.
The contact is not family.
CDC has a news conference at 3pm CST.
Just heard from live audio in Dallas that the second patient is one of the sheriffs who delivered the quarantine order.
That huge gush of air that went by you was the CDC and all levels of local Dallas government sucking their seats into their as...er assets
BookMark
This was over at a web log I frequent:
“CNN just reported that the State of Texas confirmed to them that the Dallas County Sheriffs deputy who is reporting Ebola symptoms was NOT one of the 48 close contacts being followed.”
If true, it means that the CDC did not believe in the WHO and especially MSF Ebola fomite infection reports.
At this point I would rather the CDC be knowing liars rather than incompetent political hacks blind sided by events.
...and the latter seems to be true.
