I agree with you. What bothers me is the reported cases of asymptomatic transmission. This is a concern for large urban areas with airline transportation hubs. Places such as New York, Toronto, de Gaulle and Heathrow airports provide transportation to infected regions.

There is a misnomer about the infection. The narrative has been shrill that a person only becomes infectious when they begin to show symptoms. EVD is very insidious and fools the immune system while it reproduces. By the time the body recognizes there is a foreign infection, the virus has replicated dramatically and can be found in many different body fluids.

They have confirmed the presence of the virus in semen for weeks after the patient is cured. I have heard nothing about the presence of the virus in semen when a patient is asymptomatic.

“Doctor with Ebola treated patients in Nigeria, left dozens at risk: WHO”

“Two days after developing the symptoms on Aug. 11, he went on treating patients at his private clinic and operated on two of them, the WHO statement said.”

So much for the ‘crashing out and unable to transmit the disease once they become symptomatic’ narrative. TWO DAYS he was symptomatic and transmitting the disease to all and sundry. What a disaster for them.

If they would stop commercial flights in and out it would certainly help.

Snicker - that's okay. I don't care who comes knocking with a “reeducation camp” in mind; I'm an old, feisty, farm girl who won't go down without a fight :-)

According to the OFFICIAL (and unreliably low) stats, the number of cases and deaths have approximately doubled in just 3 weeks since August 11. At this rate we should seen another doubling by the end of this month to about 4000 deaths and 7000 cases. Of course, according to WHO these stats could be under reported a factor of 4 which means the REAL stats could be 16,000 deaths and 28,000 cases by beginning of October.

Even using the OFFICIAL (and unreliably low) WHO stats, with a doubling every 3 weeks, which I am lowering to every month, the rate would be over 30,000 deaths and 60,000 cases per month by the end of the year which would mean 1000 deaths per day. And that is via using the way low WHO stats.

PANDEMIC FLU INFORMATION FORUM

This is an important commentary posted on Wed Sep 03, 2014 5:33 pm by Pixie the Site Admin.

AT WHAT POINT did Dr. Samuel Enemou TELL the people around him that he had been caring for an Ebola patient? Question

WHEN was this information disclosed? Question

Dr. Enemou allowed his church members to do a laying-on of hands without informing them of the risk?

Dr. Enemou allowed his colleagues at the hospitals to treat him without informing them of the risk? WITHOUT PPE ???

Dr. Enemou interacted with his wife (now infected) and newborn baby, freely, and invited gobs of people over for a PARTY after treating an EBOLA patient on the sly???

Dr. Frieden -- Dr. Nabarro -- Gayle Smith -- and anyone else out there who will listen: Arrow Dr. Enemou is not a one-off. Neither was Mr. Sawyer. THIS is why we are at risk.

You all have to move away from the world of meetings, lists, action-points, and a concentration on doing things in the normal manner because what you are facing is out of the norm.

The most important point to be made about this is that human behavior during this crisis will be out of the norm.

This you can depend on.

You can't control this virus because you cannot control human behavior. The messier this viral outbreak gets, the messier human behavior will get (as if Dr. Enemou's behavior wasn't messy enough).

You can't plan on the virus being controlled because you can't control human behavior. Your response plans should shift in their focus accordingly.

Understanding that you have very little control over human behavior in an extreme crisis situation like this one will dictate the next logical responses. Most of those responses do not look anything like your typical action-point lists.

Ideas like assuring the continuance of travel convenience via commercial airlines (along with the little bags of peanuts, and free drinks in Business Class) will prove quaint. How quickly will they prove quaint? That's as yet underdetermined, but they will.

The plans laid out today in D.C. had NOTHING to offer but the promise that any ex-West Africa cases would be limited and readily, easily, dealt with. No, they will happen and they will prove messy. Nothing about them will be as neat and tidy as your lists assume. We can be assured that Dr. Enemou, Mr. Sawyer, and all the rest of the runners and "illogical" thinkers are universal in their humanity and in the limitations of that humanity. The WHO plan makes no provision for this.

In the meantime, while we are waiting for the disaster of global spread of New Ebola cases to happen, WHO has informed us that, with its plan, its "road map," the outbreak in West Africa may be brought under control in six to nine months. Really? Go ahead and COUNT how many deaths that will entail in West Africa. Count them. Those are holocaust numbers. Genocide numbers. And that's WHO's cheeriest end point, with its current plan.

You need a better plan. And you need to start controlling what you CAN control: the provision of PPE, diagnostic kits, the building of field hospitals, and the control of any and all transport that moves the virus.

Someone has to call for a coordinated effort that is far beyond the customary outlines. Coloring outside those lines will likely require a response by NATO, by ASEAN, and other bodies that have the men and materials to get the job done. WHO does not.

Much of WHO's verbiage today involved worrying aloud about keeping commercial airlines flying from the outbreak areas. Yes, worrying about keeping the prime vector for global Ebola distribution operational. Unbelievable.

No one stopped to think about the genocidal numbers the current WHO plan calmly assumes.

And no one took into account the Dr. Enemou's of the world and the mad, mad, behavior that can all too easily happen in humans. The Dr. Sam Enemous, the Patrick Sawyer's, are the key to prognosticating about whether containment efforts will end in success or failure. Not the temperature screenings at the airports. Not the neat list of WHO action points. Not the moaning out loud about "discrimination" by the WHO's director. The future lies in the truth about human behavior that Enemou and Sawyer shed light on.

The lesson is there. Plan and act accordingly.

Aviation has got to be taken over by a select and dedicated cohort (that can mean commercial airlines or military or both). Civilian passengers must be prevented from flying. And soon.

All resources need to be dedicated as if on a war footing.

Has anyone considered the potential impact of a second or third concurrent outbreak area? Are there resources enough to deal with that?

And may I ask: where is our Churchill? _________________
