...the study provides the strongest evidence yet that the upsurge quakes in the past decade across Central and mid-America is at least partially to be blamed on humans. More than 300 earthquakes have occurred from 2010 to 2012 compared to an average rate of 21 every year from 1967 to 2000, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Most have ranged from 2.0 to 3.6 on the Richter scale but there have been exceptions, including a 5.6 event in central Oklahoma in November 2011 that destroyed 14 homes and injured two people.

The author, Michael Casey and the so-called "experts" from leftwing Cornell fail to realize that God and He alone determines the climate, quakes and such. It an example of the folly of man's hubris to draw a relationship between human activities and that which Almighty God controls.
This hatchet job from a hack at Fortune, once a pro-business journal, is part of the current regime's scheme to destroy America's domestic energy companies.
And his very own summary of his "career" confirms the leftist agenda he pushes:
For the past 22 years, I have written on everything from illegal logging to Formula One racing in the United States and abroad. I got my start with newspapers in New Jersey, spending the first decade covering the historic but troubled city of Paterson. I watched the city knock down public housing developments, lose the schools to state control and loss of its first black mayor to corruption. I also covered the the 9-11 terrorists attacks and several major plane crashes. I relocated to Indonesia in 2002, joining The Associated Press. I covered the emergence of democracy and terrorism as well as the difficult transition of East Timor which had just become independent. I moved to Thailand in 2005 to cover climate change, poaching, pollution and other environmental issues across Asia and then to Dubai in 2010 to coordinate the wire service's sports coverage in the Middle East. I left the AP in 2013 to pursue my dream of getting an MA in Journalism from Columbia. As part of the degree program, I wrote a 10,000 word thesis examining how women are routinely discriminated against after disasters. I hope to use that thesis as the foundation for a book on disasters and how they change societies.
This Michael Casey character is an educated fool but, you're right, a fool nonetheless. He went to Columbia. Hmmm. Wonder if he ever saw hussein there?

Flame all you want, but a word of caution: You’re falling for it, hook/line/sinker.
Geologists have been aware that deep-earth fluid injection causes earthquakes for DECADES.
All the lefties are doing is using whatever they have to put pressure on the oil industry from ‘their’ side.
I’ve posted many links in the past, but I can’t search my comments and don’t have time to dig them up again.
However, easy to find was this study from 1970
Ignore the lefties’ blather; they’re just desperate.
Ping.
The report speculates that fluid injection might someday be used to diffuse the energy in a known fault zone in a series of small earthquakes rather than one or a few large, destructive ones.
Exactly. I recall reading as a kid of experiments to inject water into faults in CA; my memory recalls that the resulting complaints of earthquake swarms halted the practice, ostensibly due to fear of causing a larger earthquake.
Regardless, I found a bunch of my links in this thread

which, ironically, I showed was likely also caused by fracking...
Actually, here’s the main pertinent comment I made

Liberals should stop using petroleum products.
Oil well drill holes are infinitesimal. To move 10’s of miles of rock you need something more then these pin pricks.
