Musk ox invasion keeps Nome wildlife managers busy
Anchorage Daily News ^ | comJuly 2, 2014 | SEAN DOOGAN

Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

But do they cost more than the un-sexy peaches?

An entirely fictional reality could be built from this premise.

I usually use width=350 if I’m resizing.

The VHS-to-DVD recorder is one unit, with the VHS slot and DVD tray. I’ve read the instructions, but they look like a foreign language to me, since it seems they all want me to use the TV. My question is “WHY? My own twisted logic says the unit should function with just being plugged in, but I don’t KNOW because the instructions don’t make sense to me. (CFIDS at work.)

I don’t need to watch the movies as they are being recording. I just want to record in the shortest time possible while I’m doing something else.

Back from Busdaddy’s. Yesterday was busy and somewhat confusing, but we’re through it. He is now angry, and that’s a good sign, as he has passed through the shock. Now he will be able to function.

I’m almost as fed up as he is with the real estate company and the insurance agents. Nobody wants to do any work these days. They all want the victim to do the footwork, even though they are in shock. THAT aggravates me.

So tomorrow morning, I will finally get to finish my own projects...paying bills. I put that and grocery shopping on hold to help Busdaddy, but now I need to get my own stuff done.

Never heard of “TenderBrook Golf Club,” but there was a famous horse in a song, “Tenbrooks.”

I was think about Captain & Tennille but my mind is in an obtuse mode this morning. Maybe on the oblique side. I have been thinking about the theme song from F Troop.

Better the theme song to “F Troop” than “Gilligan’s Isle.”

"An entirely fictional reality could be built from this premise."

It would hardly be the first time such a premise was touched upon. Many SF writers have incorporated it in some fashion.

The difficult premise appears to me and my jaundiced point of view, that something other than either benign or indifferent neglect has been in operation for a very long time.

That's possibly a best-case scenario for us, anyway. Consider "Microcosmic God". That situation was not a particularly good one for the beings under scrutiny.

If you sent out your space probe from earth, eventually it would hit the carpet or the underside of the sofa.

I think Voyagers one and two are stuck in the upholstery.

I know exactly where Voyagers one and two are.

And they are begging for freedom.

That would explain why Shannon is so interested in the underside of the zebra-striped loveseat ...

I was thinking it was a mouse.
