Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Last week in Copenhagen, 1,000 people gathered in a public square to participate in a collective act that some might call idiotic and others brave. Together, bound in solidarity, they each ate one ghost chili pepper one of the spiciest chili peppers on Earth.
Also called the "bhut jolokia," the ghost pepper grows in the Indian states of Assam and Nagland and, from 2007 till it was dethroned in 2012 by the Trinidad moruga scorpion, it was certified as the hottest pepper in the world by Guinness World Records. It measures over 1 million Scoville heat units. For comparison, classic Tabasco sauces measures between 2,500 and 5,000 SHUs.
So the ghost pepper is more than 400 times spicier than whatever hot sauce you're putting on your eggs in the morning. It's so insanely hot. So hot that India's Defence Research and Development Organisation has been working into the form of ahand grenade that will function like a tear gas cannister.

Milk fat will mitigate the hot pepper. Whole milk, sour cream, or buttermilk work best.
This is one of the tastiest peppers.
Ping.
Ping.
I'd have to agree with that statement. I tried some ghost pepper salsa recently ... my gosh, the flavor was amazing. Yeah, it was spicy hot, but not as hot as one would imagine. Now the ghost pepper hot sauce ... wow! That stuff is hot!!!
It’ll be 1000 anal flamethrowers tomorrow.
I didn’t know Copenhagen had a Stupid Convention...
Kinda funny actually. If I were there, I’d probably join in....
I prefer Egg Nog :)
I take it that you did not partake... ;-)
“This is one of the tastiest peppers.”
Very hot, yes. But it’s hard to beat the flavor of an habañero, and it still has plenty of heat, unless a person is unfortunate and gets one of the tamed down (ruined) varieties.
I’ve been growing Ghost peppers for years. Normally I don’t eat them whole. I dry them out and grind them down in a mortar and pestle then use the powder in cooking. It’s much easier to control the amount of heat that way.
The Carolina Reaper has been verified to measure up to 2.2M SHU! The Ghost Pepper is around 970,000.
Just today, I planted all three peppers. I am starting them in the Rapid Rooter Tray.
I can't wait to try the Carolina Reaper!! The plants grows about 5ft high by 4ft wide.
I like ghost pepper curry. However, in my opinion, the best tasting peppers are New Mexico chiles.
Go ahead, wipe your eyes, I dare you ... I double dare you! As for other body areas, man or woman, be VERY CAREFUL!!!
