California Governor Jerry Brown released his state budget earlier this week and had some strong warnings about future cost impacts due to the effects of global warming.
According to some scientists, over the next couple of hundred years, sea levels could rise up to four feet and that will affect the airports in Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as the nuclear plant in San Onofre.

" over the next couple of hundred years, sea levels could rise up to four feet and that will affect the airports in Los Angeles and San Francisco" Yeah, LAX will still be viable over the "next couple of hundred years".

Well lets see, we still have the Burbank airport, Long Beach airport, and of course the two large International airports in Ontario and Orange County. Why all the panic?

Between the TSA, outrageous airfares and the airlines’ cattle herding mentality, people will either seek alternate forms of transportation or stay home.

The operative word is
could.
When did
could become a scientific determiner for anything?
The moon
could explode in a hundred years and spread green cheese all over Planet Earth. It probably won't, but it
could.
Science used to be more reputable. Every thing was fine as long as the concensus of scientists knew the world was flat. [/s]

The governor’s comment is proof that when all you have is a forehead, everything looks like a nail.

Seem reasonable to me just to have Sacramento give everyone money to relocate, then open the entirety of California to the kind of American who is willing to settle, work, build, propagate and prosper, risks and hazards and rising seas be damned.*
It happened once before and would be lovely to see again.
*p.s. Oh and kick the damned illegals the hell out why we are at it.

In the next couple of hundred years any number of things could happen. Actually, 50 years ago you could actually live safely in Inglewood (around LAX). It has a history of white racism (the KKK was there supposedly in the 1920s-30s), and now is a relatively dangerous place for a white (non-hispanic) to live. I'm not making any value judgments here, but am making the point that lots of things change over time, and maybe someday Inglewood will be a great mixed neighborhood that everyone wants to live in - or maybe it will be underwater (not because of anthropogenic global warming, but because we live on a dynamic planet where climate is fluid).
Jerry Brown is not a stupid person. I just wish he would be intellectually honest, and quit being - as most liberals are - dogmatically ideological.
