The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.
No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. There is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
I owned four Jaguars in my early life. They were, in the order I owned them:
1960 XK 150 S roadster.
1957 Mk VII Sedan.
1966 E type roadster.
1966 E type coupe.
Money sucking dogs...
We have been having some terrific weather here in the lower PNW so there was no excuse to stay indoors. Had to weed whack 6 beds of Common Vetch and make compost then some spading and planted 48 hills of Yukon Gold. I’ll be transplanting the corn that I start in the greenhouse to get a head start. Doing the variety “Revelation” as it is a short season corn and very tasty to our palette plus it grows well here on the coast. The new strawberries are healthy but seem to be late maturing with just a few blossoms showing.
and acorns are too whop sided to make ammunition of sorts?

Hey, that cheap white bread that used to be 3 loaves for a dollar is now $1.28 a loaf.
Just gloating. Remind me of that next time I run out of bread and it's already hot in the kitchen. ;)

I made extra rich brownies, with pecans for the event.
I figure that during the teen years, a close association with comfort food should keep me from getting randomly killed when they start on teen stupidity. The twins haven't started that yet, but I'm waiting.
I'm hoping by the time they are 20, they will be useful and help out around here for the food. Behavioral conditioning.... You can never start too early...

“When I get my shop situated like I want it, I will have a desk there with laptop, and reading materials, sound system, and small refrigerator.”
So, your leaving your wife?
The first “your” should be “you’re” - can’t believe I did that.
Yeah, make that least expensive bread.
I made some peanut butter cookies the other day from a new jar. No one touched the jar since. Made some more cookies today and didn’t have enough so had to make do with what was in the jar. I’m also adding an extra egg in recipes because what is “large” by today’s standards is what used to be “small”. Soon, they’ll be labeling quail eggs as extra large. I’ve also noticed canned cat food is getting smaller. I use old nut and bean dip plastic lids to cover cat food cans for the fridge but the lids are fitting loose on this last purchase of 9 Lives (?). Everything is more expensive and in smaller containers.
Back in the day, we’d get turkey eggs for free because the neighbor farmer couldn’t commercially sell the double yolks. Those certainly didn’t take a dozen or more to make breakfast, lol. I’d sneak a few to my room and let them dry out in the shell (still have a box of them!). The yolks would settle on one side so they’d wobble when you rolled them across the floor. Yep, as said up thread, I’m easily entertained. That’s also the farmer who had a milk cow but only used the cream for her morning coffee and gave us the rest. My oh my, real milk is right up there with tomato sandwiches!
Those are large enough to bake.

This is a variety from China and it is about a month earlier than my main producers. I will harvest it in about 4 weeks which is early here on the coast.
Thanks for the update and pictures. I really enjoyed looking at the green house starts. That’s a lot of work!
Best to take it easy and get back to feeling better.
If I get one, I’ll have hubby secure it where it can’t be blown over.
She has cut back this year due to a worn out hip joint. There is another 16 flats in the old green house, most of them Marigolds.
