Good Evening All:
I was on the Country Woman website today and saw a great idea. Using used K-cups as a seed starter. Dump out the coffee grounds, fill with soil mix, seed. Hole that is already in the bottom of cups provides drainage.

I've got close to the same thoughts on the Glo-bull warming. I've lived thought some bad hurricanes over the years. Audrey ,Besty ,Katrina ,Andrew ,Gustav ,Rita ,Camille ,Dora ,Hugo ,and the list goes on , this is the main reason I prep and I started before it was cool .

Good to know about the joints. I had been noticing that my spine and hips didn't feel as “stove up” when I get out of bed.

I have had no problems with the mask, but I chose the one that had the least mask they had. It just has little pillows for the nose and straps up the cheeks, and on top of the head, and a small strap from the side to back.

I use a head band to help keep my mouth shut, and sometimes, a headband to go over the straps and secure them-like an Indian head band, only wider and very soft. If someone turns on the light, I quickly pull it down over my eyes and go back to sleep.

I really didn’t know they were so pretty. Lots prettier than tomato plants.

That’s a good tip. I don’t use those, but good idea for those who do. Thanks

Boy I heard that. We have the tornadoes and electrical outages pretty often, so I grew up stock piling and being prepared. Course we did a lot of camping so Dad could hunt or fish.

I thought every one lived that way. Then they started calling it prepping. Whatever LOL. I call it smart living and using the brains that God gave you.

After I got married, every time we had a few extra bucks, I would buy a case of something on sale, and stash it in the bottom of the bedroom closet, since the kitchen was too small and had almost no pantry space.

Hazel knocked over the silo on my grandfather’s farm in upstate New York...never repaired it.

You could stand on the grate and warm up.

Same farm had the same system...powered by coal.

I don't know if the CPAP will help me lose weight or not, but I did notice that I didn't take a mid-afternoon nap today.

I have constant joint pain from the beating I gave my body while on active duty. I have a hard time bending over anymore and have a hard time getting back up.

We'll see what the future brings.

We had gas furnace, otherwise same thing. We used to take turns getting dressed when we were kids, so we could stand over the furnace and not have to strip off in the cold.LOL

Sorry, I just noticed the header. I'm going on 25 years myself.

Has anyone heard from Marcella today? She usually posts a lot on the gardening thread.

Marcella, I hope you're doing well in this bad weather.

Lettuce should be a low ball of green - even young. You have insufficient light. Can you move your hydroponic operation outside? Lettuce is a cool weather crop, so southern California might be warm enough now to have lettuce outdoors.
The plum tree would do better directly planted. Also, if your soil is alkaline (many soils west of the Mississippi are alkaline), then your plum tree might enjoy a bit of sulpher or something to lower the pH.

You are very clever to grow such a fine indoor tobacco plant. I don’t do so well with indoor container grown stuff unless it is in a greenhouse.
happy gardening!

“I am making my first attemt to start seeds using grow lights. How high above the seedlings should I place the lights?”

Put the grow lamp as close to the top of the cup or pot as you can get it - the more heat the seeds get, the better they like it. As the plants grow, keep the light just above the plants - if you place it high above the plants, they will reach for the light and you will have long spindly, lousy, plants.
