Explanation: There is a road that connects the Northern to the Southern Cross but you have to be at the right place and time to see it. The road, as pictured above, is actually the central band of our Milky Way Galaxy; the right place, in this case, is dark Laguna Cejar in Salar de Atacama of Northern Chile; and the right time was in early October, just after sunset. Many sky wonders were captured then, including the bright Moon, inside the Milky Way arch; Venus, just above the Moon; Saturn and Mercury, just below the Moon; the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds satellite galaxies, on the far left; red airglow near the horizon on the image left; and the lights of small towns at several locations across the horizon. One might guess that composing this 30-image panorama would have been a serene experience, but for that one would have required earplugs to ignore the continued brays of wild donkeys.

Amazing!!!!!
Awesome!
Is this visible with the naked eye?
Sure, if you can refrain from blinking for a half hour or so...

Thanks!
It was us! We were supposed to be the ones who reached the stars! When did we settle for a constant nagging by a two-bit community organizer instead of striving for the stars? The man thought we had 57 states. Has he said anything, anything, that could even vaguely be construed as challenging our nation to shoot for the stars? “Some people make more money than other people.” No kidding. They must teach that at Harvard Law School. Some people are taller than others, too. Let’s make everyone the same height. You see these beautiful photos and you long to go there and here we sit with a jackass for President who can’t even be bothered to try and save American lives in Benghazi. God gave us eyes to see the stars and a heart to want to touch them.
Meanwhile, China is planning a moon project, India is preparing for manned missions, and we must rely on Russia to take our boys to the ISS which we mostly paid for. When the ISS is scuttled, what reason will we have to go into space at all? None, according to the “progressive” left. What happened when Newt Gingrich suggested we build a moon base? He was scoffed at by the nice progressives. No, we can’t even think of poking one toe beyond this mud hole until every little problem on Earth is solved first. That includes forcing everyone to be equal by giving government so much power that everyone is a virtual slave. The “progressives” really have no idea what they’re actualy progressing toward.
totally awesome
