Noah's Ark 'Was a Massive Double-Decker Coracle'
International Business Times ^ | 15 Dec 2013 | Fiona Keating

New evidence suggests that Noah's Ark was round, made from reeds and the length of six double-decker buses.

For years, archaeologists have scoured the world for factual evidence for the Bible story of Noah's flood, but due to scant documentation, many believe the fable to be an Old Testament myth.

Now, however, a new book claims that Noah's Ark was a round coracle and looked very different from its traditional image.

In The Ark Before: Decoding the Story of the Flood by Irving Finkel, there are claims that the vessel had two decks with cabins for the animals.

British Museum expert Dr Irving Finkel reveals how decoding the symbols on a 4,000-year-old piece of clay enabled a new interpretation of the Noah's Ark myth.

The evidence comes from a 4,700-year-old tablet of clay covered in cuneiform writing, which contains "detailed instruction manual for building an ark," says Finkel, an assistant keeper of the ancient Mesopotamian script, languages and cultures department at the British Museum.

Finkel, an expert in deciphering ancient cuneiform script, discovered the text contained instructions for building a round coracle 65 metres in diameter, with walls six metres high. It was apparently made from ropes and rushes waterproofed with bitumen, and the animals were loaded "two by two", according to the Sunday Times.

The tablet was originally found in the Middle East by Leonard Simmons, who served in the RAF from 1945-48. However, the ancient artefact wasn't subject to any research until Simmons's son Douglas took it to the British Museum in 2008.

The Mediterranean Sea filling back up was a big flood.

The Flood story is repeated across many civilizations, and the Mediterranean was once a lowland that flooded as sea levels rose. I can see the basic story being true, I think the guy was a prepper and took farm animals on the boat...when all you see is water on the horizon, to you the whole world IS flooded, but really you’re just the first cruise ship on the Mediterranean.

I was thinking that the animals deemed “clean” that were brought on the earth were also for food. That is, people were eating animals before the flood. That was why Noah brought seven of those kinds on board with him.

I don't know about that but this place seems biblically accurate!

You must read and watch the videos. The story of Ron's live and how he was let to discover not just the ARK but many other biblical archaeological sites is truly amazing!

Never mind the size of the Ark - how did he keep the animals from killing each other & the humans? And where did the waste go? That must have been a full-time job right there.

The “why” of that is conjecture, and I don’t know.
Could be they were to be sacrificial, or the genetic diversity was such that 7 instead of 2 were required.

I find it highly interesting that “researchers” will discount the bible (which has many verified copies, and has been verified on thousands of historical points), but will take a SINGLE source they find that does not agree with the bible as “correcting” the bible.

THE Ark was built of wood. Period.

The reed ark mentioned could be another similar (not the same), for a localized (sumerian) flood.

'The evidence comes from a 4,700-year-old tablet of clay covered in cuneiform writing, which contains "detailed instruction manual for building an ark"...'

I will stick with the detailed instructions described in the Book that God gave to us.

I was thinking the same thing!

Explain 9:2-3 then. Especially the word “now”.

The cubit is still used as a unit of measurement by some, such as those who wear great kilts. A great kilt is eight yards of fabric that must be properly folded so it can fit around the body each time it is worn. Each fold is one cubit wide. Since the length of a cubit varies with each individual, the width of the folds can be adjusted to the individual's size.

Great kilts aren't worn very often these days, but can find men wearing them at Renaissance festivals.

The true story of Noah

Hey honey....going fishing....I'll be back at dusk.

Quick Zeba.......in that room.

What the hell are all these friggin' animals, Noah. I thought it was just you and me.

It is baby, it is. We just need these for food. I want to get as far away from the hag as I can.

And that's why we never heard from Noah again.

He changed his name and headed for the Bahamas where he and Zeba lived happily ever after.

I have actually been to Ron Wyatt's museum and have seen the artifacts he brought from this sight with my own two eyes!

Pulling rivets, petrified wood and animal hair from core samples (not to mention the anchor stones) pretty much sealed the deal for me.

God and his only Son, Jesus Christ are real. His word is true and there is no denying it.
