Parents of 6-year-old Amazing Johnson, were angered when they learned that school officials did not call 911 when their daughters fingertip was severed. Latesha Coleman, Amazings mother, told KRIV Fox 26, Hughes Road Elementary administrators called her but downplayed the severity of the students injury saying, "She told me that the nurse was working with Amazing, that Amazing is fine. She's being loved on by the nurse."

re: "black sounding" names getting less responses. I suspect so. Now, I often encounter employees with names such as "Ty" rather than the full strange names.
I get it that people want their children to have individual names that have special meanings. It's fine in small private groups. But it's awkward to try to memorize and say lists of those unique names. I think part of it is employers want employees with names people can say. JMHO

“So it is now unsevered.
and Mommy is trying to make the school pay for this.”
Mother will soon have a thundering herd of lawyers approaching her home.
As they should.
The money line in that trial will be the edumacator’s “I didn’t think it was an emergency” reply to the question “Why didn’t you call 911.
The finger tip was in a bag.” Big money line, there.
Too bad is can’t be taken from the edumacators involved.

Her finger was not amputated. It was cut. A small piece of skin came off. It was saved, and put back on. In all likelihood it was glued on, and probably could have been treated at home. They sell that glue in pharmacies. It was not so urgent that they needed to call for an ambulance when they were able to contact the mother.

While it is urgent, it is not worthy of a 911 call.

If I read correctly, it was detached below the fingernail. That would mean it was at or near Amazing Johnson's first joint. That is a bit more than a torn chunk of skin (and very scary if she were not she)

Where did you find that it was only a piece of skin that was cut off? This article is claiming the tip was severed.

I prefer biblical, historical or family names that have been handed down over the generations.

Shouldn't Amazing Johnson be a guys name?
Imagine living up to that name.

Below the the fingernail, not above. If it severed the finger at the first joint, that would be above the fingernail. Below the fingernail there is only skin, and not much of that.

Unless she was deformed before the accident, her fingernail was at the end of her finger, not the base.

I see now. So, there are two ways to read this: Either she lost the fingertip to where the fingernail stops. Or she lost just the fingernail. Two very different stories.
If she lost the fingertip, then the article should’ve read “at the first knuckle,” to be more clear.

It's a lot worse for her brother, Aneta. I'd say so.
He's in DickInSon school district.
