Ison is a V shaped debris field with objects that are miles wide each..at least 21 large ones..
They are moving at 2 million miles per day.
Ison is moving away from "Secchi A" at that speed which makes it appear smaller from that camera each hour..
THE ROCKS ARE DARK NOW.
They will become darker as they move further from the sun over Earth..
They will not become smaller.
There is nothing in that picture that violates what physics currently theorizes about comets. From wiki:
The streams of dust and gas each form their own distinct tail, pointing in slightly different directions. The tail of dust is left behind in the comet's orbit in such a manner that it often forms a curved tail called the antitail, only when it seems that it is directed towards the Sun. At the same time, the ion tail, made of gases, always points along the streamlines of the solar wind as it is strongly affected by the magnetic field of the plasma of the solar wind. The ion tail follows the magnetic field lines rather than an orbital trajectory. Parallax viewing from the Earth may sometimes mean the tails appear to point in opposite directions.[1]
One only needs to see he was pushing this same crap with Elenin to know he's a fraud. We're not scared. We, unlike you, are familiar with this kind of internet huckster and have no desire to waste our time with what he is peddling now.
"the light blue indicates the portion above the ecliptic plane, and the dark blue the portion below the ecliptic plane"
This thing is above the orbital plane and moving away. Yet some netizens still find reason to worry about it.
Reminds me of when my son was 2 y.o. whenever he heard the horn from a nearby train at night he was convinced the train was coming into the house. It took six months to convince him otherwise.
I just wanna know if we will be able to see it with the nekkid eye.
Some people seem to “need” some cosmic bugaboo to be afraid of.
Don’t know why that is, it’s not like life isn’t frustrating enough as it is.
“But hey, let’s all panic about mislabeled pictures and outright fabrications!” right?
We already did this with elenin and yu55.
Lol.
Afraid not.
It broke up in transit as it passed perihelion.
None of the remaining three are looking like they’ll be naked eye.
Drats.
Ison was naked eye for a bit prior to perihelion.
I had cloud cover.
:-(
Based on your implied Christianity on your profile page, take eight minutes and forty-six seconds to view this (Enoch, Messenger to the Fallen Angels. Part One) and let us know if you agree...
Not no more we won't.. Not until it hits us.. ;-)
Well, here's a photo of Comet Ison taken on Dec 11, 2013. Don't you see it?
Wow. It sure is spectacular.
Lol.
It was unfairly voted off the reality show “Survivor: Solar System”.
Now making imaginary cameo appearances on some moonbat's Earthwatch channel...
A better post career schtick would be haunting the albagore.
C/2012 S1 (ISON) Orbit Diagram ( Current )
I'm not sure what exactly it was that you were tryuing to enlighten us with, but just so you know, after sifting through that web page from JPL, the vital information you really need is at the bottom.
Since you might not be able to extract that information, I have done it for you:
Close-Approach Data
2013-Dec-26 20:23
Time Uncertainty - (days_HH:MM) 00:12
Body Earth
Nominal Distance (AU) 0.430597325537957
Minimum Distance (AU) 0.430298254046287
Maximum Distance (AU) 0.430896449411539
V-relative (km/s) 47.5108311739296
V-infinity (km/s) 47.5107009325476
Time Uncertainty (minutes) 11.6325082661853
It is left to you to do the math and discover what 0.430298254046287 AU is in miles (or km if you prefer to function in metric..)
Or you can accept my quick off-the-top-of-the-head-estimate of about 37 MILLION miles.
All from data on a page you linked us to.
You're welcome.
Isn’t an albagore a type of marine mollusk?
Oops. that would be an Albaloney..
Yes.
Bpearthwatch is claiming the Geminis meteor shower is ison debris.
*facepalm*
What a danged moron.
Even better..he says the Arizona fireball (a Geminid) was “proof!!!1!”
On December 15 there were 52 fireballs detected.
30 were geminids, 20 sporadics ( none from ison), and 2 December Leonie minorids.
I love chicken little idiots who know sheepdip about meteor showers and orbital mechanics.
On the 14 there were..110.
78 on the 13.
We had clouds, couldn’t watch the geminids.
I raise a coffee toast to the idiots who don’t know dork about this stuff.
