The New England Patriots lost to the Carolina Panthers 24-20 after a controversial ending on Monday Night Football. On the final play of the game, an official threw a flag after Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly appeared to interfere with New England tight end Rob Gronkowski in the end zone. If the pass interference penalty was called, the Patriots would have had one untimed play from the one-yard line to win the game. But the officials ended up picking up the flag, declaring the game over, and running off the field without an explanation. Tom Brady was furious after the game, chasing down the officials and cursing them out in the tunnel. There was a ton of confusion about this. ESPN's in-house refereeing consultant said it wasn't pass interference, but everyone else seemed to think it was a clear penalty.

Yeah, not really getting worked up over the fact that the Patriots got the short end of the stick on an official’s call, for a change.
Brady is about to find out why you don’t criticize refs.

Had the situation been reversed does anyone think that Carolina would not have gotten the call in their favor in their own stadium?
Ref did not need to rule, he stated and confirmed with another ref it was an un-catchable ball. No foul, end of game.
I am neither a Pats fan or a Panthers fan. I watched the game. The ball could not have been caught by Gronkowski because it was too low and behind his back. The interception ended the game.............
As a Green Bay Packer fan I know all about blown official calls.
Maybe...but I’m not a big fan of New England.
Pass interference is probably the worst written rule in sports. But that being said it wasn’t interference. If Gronk had started trying to move back to the line earlier it would have been, and if Brady’s throw had come closer to Gronk it would have been, but as the play went down Gronk had taken himself out of the play, can’t interfere with a guy that’s not in the play.
Gronk *was* held in a way that prevented him from returning for the ball.Of course if it *had* been called there’s no way to be *certain* that they would have scored in their one play....but the Pats do pretty well at the one yard line.
How many controversial game changing plays are there every week? I have seen at least 5 articles about this splashed all over the internet this morning. Good God. If this was any other team besides the Patriots, would this be a news story? Tough turdies Tom! BTW, it was the right call.
Agreed...to far away for an interference call.
If that had been in New Orleans, I would have called that another “Katrina Call”. They’re famous for those down there.
“Brady is about to find out why you dont criticize refs.”
Yep! I’m tired of his whiney little bitch act.
Refs have prefs.
Full agreement. Brady is like a computer. See primary receiver covered at the back of end zone. Thinks under-throw the ball in direction of primary receiver, get the flag, go to one yard line and win game with no time on the clock. Brady is crafty and sometimes plays the rule book to win a game. This time though the Official picked up the flag. Brady didn't place the ball deep enough in the end zone for the flag to not be picked up (imho). Am happy though for the Panthers.
Interference penalties have been called away from the ball. Gronk was grabbed. The referees choked.
It was more defensive holding, than pass interference, which I believe is only a 5-yard penalty.
