It was more defensive holding, than pass interference, which I believe is only a 5-yard penalty.
I agree. Perhaps if he had made more of effort to fight his way through the defender he would have gotten the call. Instead, he let himself be pushed away.

If defensive holding had been called, the Pats would ahve gotten the ball on the 8. It’s a 5 yard penalty regardless of where the holding occurs. Interference in the end zone gets you the ball at the one, not holding.
Gronk could have made a move toward the ball but it still would have been short. Still not catchable.
