The 33 Whitest Jobs in America
The Atlantic ^ | 11/06/2013 | Derek Thompson

The workforce is even more stratified by race than you'd imagine. The differences in unemployment rates, participation rates, and average earnings between whites, blacks, and Hispanics aren't just stark. They're also sturdy, rarely yielding over the last 40 years.

The racial gaps are stark at the job level, too.

Whites account for about 81 percent of the workforce. But there are 33 occupations counted by the BLS (particularly those on farms, around heavy machines, in doctor's offices, and in C-suites) where whites officially account for nine in ten of all workers, or more. Here they are.

On another matter: Lackawanna County (Scranton) is 97% white and only 1.3% black—but they just overwhelmingly elected another RAT Mayor. Since the RATS are destroying the coal industry and trying to stifle fracking, you’d think the whites would wake the hell up and vote their selfish best interests.

Must be the residual brainwashing of the United Mine Workers Union. The mine workers, drillers, and oil workers all over America better wake up or they will all be out of a job soon.

That people with distinctly different genetics might have differences in odor doesn’t seem particularly odd to me, or inherently racist for that matter.

But in America it is so entangled with the assumption that this difference (if it exists) is a symptom of racial inferiority and of course the struggle against such racism that we can’t even discuss whether it might be true.

Logically, a difference in odor is no more evidence of superiority or inferiority than a difference in skin color or height.

As such, whether such a difference exists is a question of fact, and subject to scientific confirmation or disproof.

But of course most of us prefer to proclaim our own moral superiority by demonizing those who have the nerve to comment on their perception of a difference in body odor. (To be fair, some who have this perception deserve the demonization.)

I am not a statistician. But I strongly suspect that in any society in which the workforce is 81% white, some of those jobs will be 90% white simply due to normal statistical distribution. The only way to get away from this would be to enforce strict quotas.

” I’ve heard that too, and that the factual basis for it is higher meat content in the diet.”

I had heard it was our consumption of dairy products, which is not as common in Asian cultures. To Asians, we smell like bad cheese.

I checked the BLS statistics. Looks like only about 33% of blacks have a full time job. Whites are not a whole lot better at around 40%. Hispanics are somewhere in between, if I remember correctly.

There is a new commercial out with the older black couple welcoming their son and daughter in law (complete with canoe on top of their car) to their mountain top retreat. Of course the son left all the lights on at home, water running and doors unlocked so dad whips out his smart phone and takes care of everything, even turning off the water in the kitchen sink. What we didnt see was the Deliverance crew slipping up the back side (no pun intended) of the mountain. Meanwhile, mountain top retreats are becoming very popular for strong black families getting away from a hard day at the office.

I’ve never met a single black person who worked as an electrical engineer.

I though about that awhile.

I OTOH, have met a few, and they were exceedingly bright guys, almost conspicuously so. Have wondered why the few I knew were such smart guys, one damn near brilliant.

The study all but screams that urban schools are crap and their graduates uneducated. But saying so would upset the teachers’ unions.

For all the urban bluster, one coyote heard from a distance is enough to freak them right out.

Should have seen the DI's single out the urban blacks to torment with insects and send them out to the sides of the road on "snake patrol". Scared they poor guys to death.

That people with distinctly different genetics might have differences in odor doesn’t seem particularly odd to me, or inherently racist for that matter.

I agree, it doesn't. If one were to assert that there was an objective degree of better smell, that would be a different matter.

But in America it is so entangled with the assumption that this difference (if it exists) is a symptom of racial inferiority and of course the struggle against such racism that we can’t even discuss whether it might be true.

It's not "discussable" in society, true.

Logically, a difference in odor is no more evidence of superiority or inferiority than a difference in skin color or height.

I'd suggest that it correlates with things like success, etc. - just as taller and more attractive people tend to be paid more, those that smell better are likely also better compensated. I'd suspect that's a function of hygiene rather than ethnic composition.

As such, whether such a difference exists is a question of fact, and subject to scientific confirmation or disproof.

You're defending your intellectual integrity without need.

But of course most of us prefer to proclaim our own moral superiority by demonizing those who have the nerve to comment on their perception of a difference in body odor. (To be fair, some who have this perception deserve the demonization.)

Well, it's not that complicated, really. If one is honest - and nonideological - it's easy.

1. Different people smell different.

2. Some people smell better than others.

3. Your hygiene mileage may vary.

That's really freaking funny. Makes sense. And I'm amused, not offended.

“80% of success is just showing up”

This comment brings to mind two things.

Many of the younger set do not care about punctuality. I knew a young lady that had to be to work by 8 am. She interpreted this as having to leave home by 8 am.

The second is when the western ND oil boom started, I knew of a trucking company giving a $500 a month bonus just for the drivers to show up on time.
