What does gun control have to do with health care? As odd as it seems, Obamacare contains provisions that jeopardize gun ownership, especially for veterans. Anti-gun provisions were added to initial drafts of Obamacare legislation under the pretext of prohibiting people with mental illness which can include PTSD - from owning guns. Fortunately, the NRA stepped in and got some of the worst language revised last December. Senate amendment 3276, Sec. 2716, part c. prohibits the creation of a firearms database and stops doctors from disclosing or collecting information relating to a patients firearms. Ironically, this provision was probably the only positive result of most members of Congress not bothering to read the bill before voting on it.

My doctor never goes there, but if he did, I’d lie. And change doctors.
My daughter and son-in-law were down in my fortress/basement this weekend.
They perused, they browsed and they looked. When one of them said ‘ammunition’ I said “what ammunition” When the other said “what’s in those three gun safes?” I said “what gun safes?”
What do you think I’m gonna tell a doctor?
Get it through your head folks - anything other than a strong "NO" means yes! (And since it's the government here, even a strong no may bring a stasi-style investigation if you don't make that "NO" believable.
Bingo!
My doctor never goes there, but if he did, Id lie. And change doctors.
My doctor is a shooter so no problem. The VA may be a problem though.
Don’t worry about the doctor. Your son-in-law on the other hand............LOL! If I went in your basement I wouldn’t even think of asking you what’s in your secured safes. Not my business. Now, if you offered up the info and were willing to open up your indoor range..............
When asked about my hearing loss and if it is firearm related, I simply tell them too many years of LOUD guitars. Well, LOUD amps anyway. My solid body guitars don’t make much noise at all until the amps get cranked to “11”. What?
I really disagree that people went along with guns being forbidden to people "for mental health reasons". Of course I don't want crazy people with guns. But I certainly don't want the feds deciding who's crazy and who isn't.
I was checking on renters insurance with Amica a couple of months ago and the insurance agent asked me if I had any firearms in my residence. I refused to answer the question.
For some reason Amica considers them a liability. Nevermind that they prevent and stop crime 2.5 million times a year according to the DoJ including in the home.
Actually, I don’t have to worry about my SIL...my daughter can outshoot him any day of the week, she with a 6” S&W 686 357 mag and he with a 1911 (I gave both after they completed a handgun and range course and got their CCWs).
She is deadly with her 686. She shoots inside the 8,9.10 center rings at the full extent of our indoor range we use.
LOL! I think they’ve already decided and it’s us.
I don’t have any guns. They scare my cat...
“Why would I have guns in my house? That’s what police are for.”
“I don’t have smoke detectors or fire extinguishers either. Same reason.”
My doc never goes there either but I’m always as happy as a clam. No depression here.
Repeat it often and loudly, “NO ‘MENTAL HEALTH’ SCREENING FOR GUN OWNERSHIP”. Criminally insane is criminally insane. LOCK UP THE CRAZIES.
If they are not going to be held legally accountable for their actions, then they need confinement or a legal guardian in their protective custody at all times.
The drugs don’t make people “normal”, they make them “pass for normal”.
The crazies can kill with poison, cars, knives, pillows, fists, etc. Gun control is just that gun control.
I loathe the despotic Left.
That’s why I think everyone including felons, the mentally ill, et al should be allowed to own them. Once they say one group can’t they can expand the definition of that group and eventually include all others.
If they use them irresponsibly let the responsible ones closest by take care of that problem immediately. Once they understand the responsible people won’t put up with that crap they’ll be much more careful.
Nobody has the slightest idea of all the provisions hidden within Obamacare’s thousands of pages of legislation. During a visit to my doctor, I saw my photograph on the electronic records system mandated by Obamacare. It was the photo on my driver license. The photo was provided by the state DMV to the electronic medical records database. Presented as a safety measure for law enforcement during traffic stops, if a person has a CHL, that same DMV records system also automatically reports it to anybody querying the database.
I have some safes that hold precious heirlooms, some clothes, and old pictures that have Hello Kitty, baseball pictures and other stuff on them. No gun safes.
