Yesterday many of us participated in a thread entitled "I miss America when it was Decent and Good." Many of us shared our memories and there were some wonderful stories.
Today, someone posts that "elderly kooky types" "infest FR" and "go on and on about their grandchildren and what a great president Eisenhower was."
Just for kicks (see I'm dating myself already), how many FReepers are "elderly kooky types?"
If it was during his Congressional testimony in 1971 (?), no, I don't. I was too busy being a 3-year-old back then. :)
Lend me your comb?
...careful...I’ve got smog in my noggin...might be catching...
My first vote was Nixon-McGovern but I have memories of 1960 Chicago when Daley-the-First marched the dead through the river wards to elect JFK. You cannot tell me that that did not influence Nixon forever afterwards!
Yes, Nixon was a preRINO Republican and had many faults, but McGovern!?!? Of course I voted for Nixon and even as I am writing this I wonder how much of my bad recollections of him are a results of the TOTAL HATRED of him by the MSM!
I’m 53. My very first Presidential vote was cast for Ronaldus Magnus in 1980. And it’s been downhill for America ever since he left office. :(
I’ve been a political junkie on every level since I cast that very first vote.
I found/joined FR soon after 9/11 in 2004. It is an island of SANITY, in spite of some of the ‘kooks’ that hang out here. ;)
Well, I’m 52... and AARP won’t leave me the hell alone...
BUT... I ain’t old... I’m BOLD....
It seems we’re all geezers on this bus
That’s why we need a “Like” button on here
So we can stop preaching to the choir and get those young whipper-snappers to come take a peek
in 1971 (?),...I missed your birth. I was hiding behind a bamboo grove. Sorry.
:::waves wildly:::
Was in my senior year of high school during the Nixon/Kennedy debates, and actually thought Nixon won.
Wasn’t impressed by Kennedy at all, so I got an early start at being a “kooky”.
I’m like 69.
Does that make you 64?
Someone posted earlier that if you refer to Obama as any name other than “Obama” you’re an elderly kooky type (EKT).
Was that you, WC9?
;^)
Well, I’m only middle-aged, but I suppose that to the NSA, we’re ALL “kooky” here...
I’m an Elderly Kooky Type, but I can hit it like a YoungUn.
How old to qualify? I’m 52.
Conservative, so my brother and his liberal family thinks I’m kooky.
Impatient with idiots, so my ex-wife thinks I’m kooky.
Don’t trust cops so my cop cousin thinks I’m kooky.
Like to hunt, so my mother thinks I’m kooky.
Currently have been collecting knives. Dad thinks I’m kooky.
Have a modest gun collection and own 2 Ar’s. My other brother thinks I’m a gun nut. Kooky.
Hell, I must be a real Kook...
I’m in my 50’s but Obastard has aged me mentally to around 100.
I am a curmudgeon, or is it curmudgeoness? I can never get that straight, in training and have been for several decades now.
There is absolutely no telling just how “kooky” I will become.
The lurking youts should take heed though of words to the wise. Never pick a fight with an old man. He’ll just kill you and leave you in the ditch. He don’t give a damn. The older he gets the less he has to lose and the less he cares.
It is hottern’ blazes here today. I’ve got a tarp and a truck! Yahoo!
Where does he put the diving board?
53. Voted for Reagan my first time out (and the field gets weaker every election’s primary).
I’m the same age, and I remember my parents giving me a BB gun when I was 7, and a .22 when I was 12 or 13. All my friends had them. We’d roam the neighborhood and woods nearby with our guns on our shoulders, plinking anything that needed it. No one ever said a word about it. Today, I could not think of a quicker way into court than giving a .22 to an unsupervised 12 year-old. Even a pellet gun in the hands of an adult, if spotted outdoors, will bring on the SWAT team.
