Just curious. Has anyone tried acupuncture? Any success?
Seemed to help with depression - might have been placebo effect but I went in believing it wouldn’t work at all. Might have been prayer - acupuncturist was a devout Christian.
Worked very well on lower back pain - muscle spasm had lasted six weeks, one treatment cured it.
Totally missed a serious medical condition but to give her credit she knew I was seeing my doctor the next day and she would have told me I should see my doctor if I hadn’t been planning to.
I never used it for back pain. But it does relax you.
Now this book cured my sister’s chronic back pain
It also stopped my hubby’s co worker from having back surgery.

Dr Sarno’s books are awesome. I had chronic back pain and could barely function. Now, 13 years later, I’m fine.
Same premise I guess. Except you are the human pincushion..
Yes, I have tried acupuncture several times. It definitely speeded up the healing process.
If you get a sexy Asian woman it will work juuuuusssst fine.
Oops, didn't mean to imply that it took 13 years to work. I've been pain-free for the last 13 years.
Healing from the wounds caused by the acu needles? Makes sense.
I’ve been to acupuncture numerous times for different things, most recently for a broken neck. I had success with it.
Acupuncture works. End of story. But you must have a qualified and credentialed practitioner, just like any other kind of medicine.
"Meh."
Ask an educated Chinese (from China, not from Chinatown in Podunk!) as I did ask an economics prof from a university in Beijing, who originally came from rural China, where such practices might be more readily accepted. He dismissed it, end of story.
Yep, and it worked very well. I had a nerve in my elbow that was really bothering me, throbbing a lot. One treatment and no other problems. The person who recommended it to me is a bodybuilder who is always hurting her back and she swears buy it. Also recommended it to my dad who had hip replacement and it helped with a lot of his pain.
Article you may like. Scientists are finding out there is a lot of science behind it.

(of course, the way it works, I can see how there can be a lot of scammers out there just jamming needles wherever giving it a bad name)
Our family also has seen success using it for pain. For one particular pain condition it worked dramatically. Other types of conditions, not necessarily/hard to tell. But for pain I’d be there at the office again in a heartbeat.
No reason why not. Traditional and nontraditional medicines still rely on one basic premise. The mind and belief of the receiver.
The mind plays a very large part in the healing process. Therefore , if one believes their chosen treatment helps, it is so. I am not being a smart-ass.
I believe that the mind works in tandem with the treatment provided. Remember the book “ laughter is the best medicine”? The basic premise was, a positive outlook, not necessarily the medicine itself.
For my mom, she was not a believer in eastern methodology , she tried it to please a friend - not herself.
Homeopathy, organic food, recycling, chiropractic, psychic surgery, UFOs, and acupuncture are amusing everyday reminders that people will believe anything.
LOL!
In school, I used the stealthily applied thumbtack version of acupuncture.
I can honestly report, that it did lighten my spirits and immediately improve my mood.
Acupuncture works very well on some people for some conditions. Much like any other healing art. Back pain is difficult and often complicated though. It took me 28 years to deal with mine and I can’t point to any one thing of the many things I did for it as the cause of its remission.
