It sounds like a mash-up of Indiana Jones' plots, but German researchers say a heavy Buddha statue brought to Europe by the Nazis was carved from a meteorite that likely fell 10,000 years ago along the Siberia-Mongolia border.

Well, its authenticity matters less than the behavior surrounding the icon itself. The story in the Koran revolving around Abraham helping Ishmael set up this particular icon in Mecca in the first place is even more tenuous than the authenticity of the black stone.

Look at the brick work on that thing. The workmanship absolutely sucks.

I keep forgetting to ping you to these types of threads (smacks self in head).

These are the folks responsible for higher level math and great architecture, don'cha know. Yeah, which they stopped producing right around the time a certain pedophile goat humper appointed himself as their messiah, and halted all further development of their culture.

The carving depicts a man, probably a Buddhist god, perched with his legs tucked in, holding something in his left hand. That is Padmasambhava and he is holding a vase with a wish-fulfilling jewel on it.
There is no such thing as a Buddhist god.

His left hand is in the ‘earth witness’ mudra. That is how Buddha Shakyamuni is usually depicted. This is Padmasambhava and I have never seen a representation of him using that mudra before. According to the article this was probably carved around the 8th to 10th centuries. Padmasambhava gave teachings in Tibet in the 8th century.

What is he doing with his left hand? He has some bird seed in his left hand and with his right hand he's feeding the pigeons in the park, signage be damned.

Looks more to me like he's doing something one might get arrested for doing in the park, or in a movie theater. But I'm probably wrong.
