Venus being larger than Earth really shows how large our sun is.

Awesome!!!! The boats kinda spoil the pic, but it’s still very good. Without boats, that would without a doubt be Desktop wallpaper material.

Yep, ‘bout the same size. Got my facts a bit off so I guess I’ll go stand in the corner for a while.

The Venus shadow almost looks like two circles superimposed on each other - anyone know why that is?

Well as I wrote to several posters:

Think I'll go swallow some rhubarb or sumptin'

Look at the bright side, you may have to stand in the corner but you don’t have to wear the cap./\

What I have to learn here is to make sure of my facts before I post. I’ve been remiss on that several times to my embarrassment. But at least I use spell-check (me, not you).

Cool stuff, Maynard! I haven't heard somebody say that since the 70s, when I was in high school. ;-)

Just a couple of little space news items for the day.
New Horizons is now less than 9 AU from Pluto and the Curiosity rover is due to land on Mars in August.
It will be interesting to see if the can pull off the Curiosity landing since its the size of an SUV and will be lowered to the surface by crane under a rocket.
