In February of this year my older brother went to the hospital due to severe pain and swelling in one leg. Those doctors could not figure out what was causing the pain and swelling, so they sent him home to see his own doctor. His doctor could not figure out the problem either; mean while his other leg started hurting. He was sent to Houston for yet another set of test; still no results. His doctor and the doctors in Houston tried different treatments (medicine) to treat his pain. By this time he has used up his vacation, sick leave and disability time at work so they fired him. Last month he went to another set of doctors, this time in Temple, TX for more test. They determined he had anmemia and hyper or hyposomething (I cant remember) and asked him to come back this week for results of test and some more testing.
I received a phone call from my sister-in-law yesterday telling me the doctors determined my brother might have Myelofibrosis ~ which if not treated could lead to Leukemia. The ran different blood test and today did a bone marrow biopsy. Those test came back that he has Leukemia. Tomorrow the bone marrow results will determine if the type of Leukemia he has is aggressive or non-aggressive. If non-aggressive, he will receive a week of chemo and have to stay in the hospital for at least one month. My sister-in-law said she went blank before she could hear about what will happen if the Leukemia is aggressive.
Please pray that the Leukemia is non-aggressive and that my brother can be healed with as little as pain as possible.
Thanks much for the update, TM. A prayer for Tony & Lynn, you and your families and friends.
A good thread BUMP, health BUMP, life BUMP, prayer BUMP
Either self apply, or get the doctors you are working with to apply.
I had a very rare (approximately 1 in 2-3 million) sacral chordoma requiring the removal of my entire sacrum and the rebuild of my pelvic ring. Without it, it would have been fatal.
I was at MD Anderson for 3 months and 3 very radical and long surgeries...38 hours of surgery altogether over a couple of week time span.
I then had three months of very intensive rehab. My last surgery was 18 months ago and I am slowly improving and have now lived to see two more grandchildren born (we have altogether now).

Psalm 103:1-5 ~ “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits; who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.”
Thus saith the Lord ... Amen and Amen

Here is another update They finally got all the test results back. Tony has Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), which is the fast acting type. They started chemo treatments today. For the next five days he will receive the treatments via I.V. and pill form. Within the next few days they are going to put him in complete isolations for 30 days only medical personal will be allowed in his room. Tony did say there will be a window in which we can see him. I told him we come watch him like a monkey in the zoo, as long as he did not fling poo at us. ;-)
I went to see him today, and he looks much better than he did on Saturday ~ whatever infection he has is now gone. Today was also the first day he was up to leaving his room. I ask if he needed any books to read and he held up his bible and told me that was the only book he needed right now. I told him and Lynn that all of you were praying for them; they were humbled and asked me to thank all of you. So, Thank You for taking a few minutes out of your days to ask God to help heal my brother.
With the help of God and the wonderful people at M.D. Anderson I have faith that my brother will beat this, and be back to his pestering self in no time.
Again, Thank You for your prayers.
From your lips to God's ears, friend.
Tony will remain very much in my prayers as will Lynn and all of you.
Thanks for the update TM. My prayers of course, will continue!
I continue to pray for your brother, you and the rest of your family.
Prayers for successful treatment and a swift and complete recovery for Tony.
Dear Father...please give Tony the strength to battle this dreaded disease with Your help and to come out of the battle a winner.
Help his family as they suffer right along with him and give them strength and the comfort of knowing You are near.
Wonderful! Thankyou Lord!
