The brightest the spot, the shorter the distance to a McDonald’s is.

For some reason the picture disappeared (on me at least). Here it is again:

Interesting. I could use this to figure out where to live... seems to be fairly accurate for that purpose.

The brighter the lights, the more Amish the area?

It looks like you can see I-80 going through Nevada and I 15, going from CA to Utah, following the dots.

Was the fact that this looks like a messed-up human colon lost on everyone? Or am I the only one seeing that?

Interesting voids in western New York and what might be Tennessee on the otherwise lit up eastern half of the country. Perhaps that’s the lake region in NY but I wonder what causes the empty spot in TN.

I think the empty spot in Tennessee is the Monongahela National Forest and/or the George Washington National Forest in West Virginia and/or Virginia.

I heard last week McDonalds plans on opening 1300 new units next year. I have to believe most will be over seas...based on the map they would have to start putting them across the street from each other.

Thanks for the answer. That’s a heck of a national forest for the eastern US. it looks huge, something a bit more typical of the west.

What’s interesting about that “map” is you can clearly see the routing of Interstate route 5, 80, 15 and 84 across the western states. And you can see the “split” of Interstate 5 and California 99 between Sacramento, CA and the merge between I-5/CA 99 just north of Wheeler Ridge, CA.
