I think the empty spot in Tennessee is the Monongahela National Forest and/or the George Washington National Forest in West Virginia and/or Virginia.

Thanks for the answer. That’s a heck of a national forest for the eastern US. it looks huge, something a bit more typical of the west.

Monongahela National Forest I think. More accurately, I think it is the area framed by I-68, I-77, I-79 and I-81.
