A woman was taken to the hospital Monday with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a toilet exploded in a federal government building in Washington, building officials said, according to WUSA-TV.
Employees in the GSA regional office were sent a memo warning them to not use the restrooms, WUSA reported.
"DO NOT flush toilets or use any domestic water," WUSA quoted the memo as saying. "Due to a mechanical failure, there is high air pressure in the domestic water system that resulted in damage to toilets. The engineering staff is working to correct the issue.

"DO NOT flush toilets or use any domestic water," If the federal government begins using imported water in all the toilets, it will really impact the budget.

Employees in the GSA regional office were sent a memo warning them to not use the restrooms After six hours of not using the restrooms to urinate the building took on a particular odor of ammonia.

Back in my day, they exploded from cherry bombs or M-80's.
We never even thought about using "domestic water"!

Somebody took a good sized chunk of metallic sodium,wrapped it in toilet paper and flushed it down the back in High School.Back-flushed all the toilets in the building when the hydrogen gas exploded.

Exploding Toilets are not the sort of problem you read about every day.
Why did this one turn out to be a Government Toilet?

If the domestic water riser in a tall building loses pressure from an interruption of water service or the domestic water pumps go down the piping can suck a lot of air into the system.
It the air is not bled out when the water service is restored you'd be amazed at what the combination of compressed air and incompressible water can do coming out of a sink faucet or toilet. Let's just say that "stuff" can go everywhere!

I couldn’t remember there was a 1980’s movie with the setting in a high school and the principal goes in to use the toilet and it explodes and becomes incontinent. I am thinking it was Porky’s. Funny to watch at the time.
Don’t get any good old funny movies like it anymore !

It was a government building - whoever designed the toilets didn't account for the concentration of ****.

2Na + 2H
2O = 2NaOH + H
2Sodium literally burns in water, and the reaction is very fast (explosive), which I'm sure "somebody" had just learned in Chemistry class before the prank.
