My advice to hard working people in the Atlanta area, get an AK. You are gonna need it when the welfare stops.

So, there are cheats. The USPS Inspector General has a fraud team. They search out postal employees out on disability to see if they are cheating. They occasionally find a few.

It's not that big a deal ~ more pressing are the medical scam artists who certify disabilities improperly. The OIG goes after them because they send and take checks, and write notes (all letter mail BTW ~ yup, just write a check ~ that's a letter ~ it's regulated by the Private Express Statutes, and writing a check for a bribe, or cashing a check paid for a bribe, is to commit MAIL FRAUD).

People writing checks is a bigger deal ~ still, when you catch only one employee you also catch a medic who is probably committing fraud ~ and if you catch him you can catch his cronies AND the other people who are defrauding disability.

So, let me make this offer to you ~ SEND ME THE NAMES AND ADDRESSES of those you have seen who you are sure are committing fraud against Disability Insurance and I'll pass them on to friends in the business of catching the bad guys. Or, you can do it yourself ~ just notify the USPS Inspector General ~ http://www.uspsoig.gov/

Turn 'em in~

I just don’t even want to imagine a day when this all stops.

These women are some of the most beastly and brutal creatures one can imagine.

What would happen? Who would immediately come to their aid? I just cannot imagine how all of this would go down.

Atlanta is a Powder Keg, It’s going to get ugly.

FDR awarded Atlanta with the first federal public housing project. Back then, people in Atlanta had jobs while the poor lived in rural areas. Public housing drew those poor people into the inner cities in order to collect their handouts. The Democrat Party has destroyed this country.

You can submit your application on line but the law requires you to SHOW UP AND IDENTIFY YOURSELF.

I suspect some furloughed employee sabotaged the system.

Something, however, is intentionally fouling things up. If nothing else, a quick phone call to some food banks or even the Red Cross and there could be days worth of food available, as food, not stamps. Anything more than days and the county could request that the regional federal food storage (think Reagan cheese) could be opened, no problem. All it would take is a phone call to the State USDA office.

So the question becomes, why are they *not* making these phone calls?

Food stamps are unlike any other form of welfare, for several reasons. The first is that they actually *save* the government money because a perpetual agricultural problem in the US is too much food, that the federal government buys, then *expensively* warehouses until it rots.

The second is that food, unlike money, is a crappy motivator to encourage people to get off welfare. Without food, people spend all their time looking for food, not looking for work. Until the school food program was created, many children could barely function in school, much less learn. School lunch was their big meal of the day.

So the bottom line is that, if you can’t give them credit on their food debit card, then give them food itself. Georgia is awash with food, so there is no, zero reason for anybody to do without.

Cut back on their other welfare, fine. Money is a great motivator to encourage people to work. Workfare was a huge success. But not food.

Admittedly, I am a bit of a conspiracy theorist but what do you think the possibility that this "glitch" was actually an attempt by some nefarious group/nation/etc to instigate a riot in this country? Perhaps a trial balloon to see how the dependents would respond when their benefits were cut, with a larger plan to "glitch" the system on a larger basis? Simultaneously halting payments in Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, etc would be catastrophic. Iran, for example, could accelerate chaos in this country in such a way.

That being said, it's probably George Bush's fault.

So, it comes to this ~ urban people deserve public housing and rural people deserve shanties.

That's what you are saying?

I went to pick someone up from the local medical center the other day. There was a person there DEMANDING a ride home in a taxi. A social worker was called and it seems a taxi was provided.

BTW this was not an elderly person. It was a 20-something year old male and his lady friend.

Uh, no. Not even close. There is absolutely no way a rational human could have reached that conclusion based upon my statement.

Most of the people in this photo are overweight. How do supposedly poor people get so chubby?

They mention a furlough day kept the office closed. Any chance this was sabotage to create controversy.

It’s still in the law ~ you complete it on the net and you must prove your identity to somebody ~ usually at an SSA office.

Funny you should say this, because I've been thinking about buying a domain name to start pushing for a taxpayer appreciation day, not only for the welfare loafers, but also for the government workers that receive their paycheck and benefits as a result of taxpayer dollars. i wonder how far that would get?
