Last winter, I had occasion to go to the local SSA office...took an number and waited my turn. My sense was that I was at the UN building in NYC. I was the *only* Western person in the room. A majority of the people, of all age ranges were Spanish, Far Eastern [Oriental] and Russian. It was unnerving.
The SSA employees were very patient, polite and kind, much nicer than the DMV workers, I’ve encountered.
I can't tell you how many times I've stood behind these leeches at WM with one or two carts full of junk food, soda pop, etc. whipping out their "Peach Cards" and swiping them through the machine without a care in the world....their bill? Not a damned thing. They piss and moan because they have to buy their cigs with cash....
I was behind one lady that was evidently having a gourmet meal dinner party that night - bill almost $300. She was dressed to the nines. After I finished paying cash for my stuff and I followed her out, she drove off in a brand new Escalade with Chrome 22s....
This is disgusting. That news report is a harbinger of what's going to happen when there really is no money instead of a computer glitch. The entitlement mentality was patently evident, and the undertone of violence was even more evident.
Pretty much that way across the nation. Young out of shape (fat) people, fakers and no-goods looking for disability, young mothers looking for supplemental assistance for their children, foreigner parents of now-legal immigrants applying for SS.....barely a blue-hair anywhere....the old saying “death by a thousand cuts” has been expanded to something like “death by a hundred million cuts.”
They must *network* among their own acquaintances and sure know how to milk the system.
I wonder...does anyone know if the SSA workers have quotas; I mean, a certain number of people they have to process [to give bennies] every day?
While behind a large order checking through, the cashier announced to the woman customer that you can't buy dog food [she had put a large 40# bag on the belt]...clerk asked the woman if she could put it aside, and pay cash for it later. The customer said she didn't want it and told one of her kids to run to the back of the store and bring the largest package of hamburg he could find. She held up the line, while we waited for the kid to come with the dog's hamburg.
It was all I could do to not say something...it would have caused a riot, I just turned around and rolled my eyes to the person behind me in line.
I want someone to pay for my housing, medicine/medical, utilities, food. I've been a productive member of society all my life. Just dang.
