” Steven Tyler, especially, needs to go. Jimmy Iovine would be a great replacement for him. “
Agree, even though I like some of the Aerosmith songs , and
appreciate his performance style for what it is , he hasn’t added much, other than some entertaining lines.
From a coaching/critiquing standpoint to me, he hasn’t shown much if anything.
Regarding Iovine, I’d appreciate more of your thinking of why he would be a good judge.
Retrokitten posted a link to this last week, but the video disappeared before I could see it. I found this link and will repost it for anyone that didn’t get a chance to see it.
It is a clip from the Jimmy Fallon show where Steven Colbert and Taylor Hicks sing ‘Friday’.

Neighbor’s been smokin’ a hog for two days. It’s not helping throat or lungs; house closed up. Outside of that, I’m ready. When you see the smaller group, I’m sort of near the mic. sleeveless: does that help?
If she can't learn how to connect with the audience, she needs a year's worth of acting lessons. She was like a robot with a great voice but not the greatest voice. IMO, it's in the eyes and is there a smile, a real one or a fake one that looks real? Whosoever claims to know about stage presence, like Rush always says, "don't doubt me."
It sounds like you have a life.
Do you know what a conspiracy is?
lol. Stefano isn’t very good. Pia was better than Stefano but she couldn’t get women to vote for her. She didn’t appeal to females who do most of the voting. If you think there’s a conspiracy, that’s funny. She needs to find a personality and she’ll be a big success.
Hey, don’t go away. I like yourposts and your insights into vocal training, stage presence, etc.
Hardboiled eggs? Don’t they coat your vocal cords something awful?
In HS chorus we were told to eat oranges before a performance.
Was it Tyler who brought us the hideous wrinkled wretched foulmouthed Iggy Pop?
I think so. He wanted to look good, and having Iggy there accomplished that for him......
You need to ask ‘RINOs suck.’
You are responding to his or her comment in post 929.
Thanks, thought that was yours, but now see it wasn’t
Agree with your observation in your commentary.
” Steven looks out of focus, depressed, bored, not there. “
Very well stated!
Thank you!
Also, loving your audience goes a long way toward overcoming stage fright.
A wise friend once said, “You can’t be afraid of someone you love.”
Tyler has a very strange affect. The camera catches him looking off at an angle, staring into space, unresponsive to his surroundings, to the people around him.
Anyway!!! Who do you like of the idols??
Wow again.
And the audience loves back, the energy feeds the performer and it’s a feel-good time all around. IMO, James has this ability. Like J-Lo said, he brings JOY to the stage, and it’s infectious.
Lauren rocks it a different way, by sharing from deep within. JMO.
Good points! The joy factor IS infectious... takes it beyond self.
There are a lot of poor reading skills reflected on this thread, I'll tell you that...and I'm not suggesting you can't read.
Do people get on the Idol threads and start drinking?
You can merely know how she comes across on camera.
I've seen pop singers stand completely still for 75 minutes and have an audience on its figurative knees begging for more.
"Don't doubt me."
