Found out yesterday that wife totalled car. Long story short, looks like I'm buying a car soon. She'll want another SUV, but I'm thinking CUV. Looking at....
Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute Hyundai Tuscon Kia Sportage Mitsubishi Outlander Honda CR-V (a bit pricey) Mazda5 (not a CUV, but I'm including it as a wildcard)
I've read a lot of info online, but am hoping to hear from anyone with personal experience and thoughts. I'm going shopping with my wife, when I get back in town.
(NOTE: I refuse to consider RAV4 because my last Toyota was a disappointment, or anything GM/Chrysler)
subaru forester. she have an 03 outback and i have a 08 forester.
Perhaps a 25-30 year old, with a better driving record?
Before this latest development, I was looking to replace my Ranger. (Fat chance, now)
I really like the size of my Ranger, but I wish I had a back seat to carry the kids (in a pinch). BUT I didn’t care for the Explorer SportTrac’s mini-bed.
I would’ve liked a crew cab pickup, with a 6’ bed. Nissan is the only one I know of right now that’s not a fullsize.
I know you said no Toyotas, but take a look at the new Venza.
All Large cooperations support “gay” rights.
In all honesty, I doubt that I would another new car, or any car that relied on a computer to function. Nor would I have a car with a factory installed GPS system, either.
That’ll be the next Socialist POTUS’ grab, in the name of the environment.
Am I the only one who knows, and is scared, that your car can be locked, unlocked, turned on or off, and even disabled, via remote control? That every “event” in your car is logged, and can be transmitted?
Control of the population is the Socialist’s gift to Communism.

What am I missing here?
Dittoes on the Venza.
See my post 44. I bought one in August.
Am very happy with it.
Used Caddy.
If it weren’t for the glorious Feds, we could choose between midrange safe, V-8s. Now, the Caddys are all that you can buy made of metal.
You mention Nissan.
I should say that a month or so ago I got “stuck” with the little Nissan Versa hatchback as a rental car and oddly felt the same thing that I experienced with the Milan-—”this is a car!”
A lot of times when I’m renting I go cheap and end up with Kia Rodeo, Chevy Aveo, the little Hundyai-—and they are like rolling down the highway in a beercan at 65.
The Versa though priced comparatively (I looked it up) was WAY above the cheap-@ss Chevy and the others......
Id reccommend a Colombian wife...........
I would suggest you spend the $5 for a 1 month internet subscription to consumer reports and check out what they say. BTW the ‘11 models had many more 5 star crash rated the the ‘10’s
Instead of asking here, go to Consumer Reports and read their reviews. I would not get a new vehicle either. Buy one about 2-3 years old with 30k-50k miles for about half the price of a new one.
Looking for a new model? You might want to try an ‘86 blonde.
When the old model gets a few miles on it, it is likely to crash.
That’s a 67, with the REAL ugly front end. Find a photo of a true 66 and you will be a happy man.
Porsche Cayenne.
Daughter just got rid of a RAV that was falling apart inside after a year. I don’t think Toyota makes cars like they used to.
