Instead of asking here, go to Consumer Reports and read their reviews. I would not get a new vehicle either. Buy one about 2-3 years old with 30k-50k miles for about half the price of a new one.
30-50k miles is too much for a 2-3 year old car. 20-35k is more like it.
Found a car for my mom 8 yrs ago, a '99 Buick Century Limited. 4 years old at the time, with 19,000 miles on it. Got it for 40% the cost of a new one, and with only 19k it was almost like brand new. Now it has 110k, and has been a very good car for my mom.
