Radio personality Laura Schlesinger says she has "no regrets" regarding the tattoo she got from Glenn West at Classic Tattoo in mid-October. It's on her upper left arm and shows a skull clenching in its teeth a single rose. "It is so me," she wrote in an e-mail.
"It doesn't have a name. I came up with the design because I'm a 'bad ass girly girl' (ride a Harley, skipper a racing sailboat, pump iron, hike, etc.)," she e-mailed. She has posted 13 images of the work-in-progress on her website.
"My son thinks it is fabulous ('live hard'), my husband thinks the art is wonderful but wishes it were on someone else. Hey, I'm 63 and I'm not going to have one thing on that Bucket list," she wrote.
KFWB/980 AM has no idea yet who will replace Schlessinger when she quits her show at the end of the year, but they are auditioning replacements.

Not a fan and that’s the ugliest tattoo I’ve seen in a long time and it’s huge.

American adults don't have to "take" any abuse, including fat folks who are ridiculed (overtly or covertly) for being fat. They can choose to be offended and made miserable by it, and to go through life expecting the world to adapt to THEM instead of the other way around. It's a choice.
Or THEY can adapt to the world. Either they choose the path of "water off a duck's back," like Chris Farley or Oliver Hardy, or they can take responsiblity for themselves, change some behaviors, and cease to be fat.
A 10-year-old kid who learns to understand and embrace the power of taking responsibility for oneself to do the adapting instead of expecting others to adapt, is a kid aimed toward success no matter what lies in his or her past.
For what it’s worth, Pers, I think ol’ Dr. Laura is going to have to do some “manning up” herself in the next few years for that ghastly tatoo! ;^)

I mean that if we went to work or school as adults, we would not be required to tolerate teasing, taunts, insults, or ridicule.

There is nothing liberal about the desire to protect kids from abuse.
It is commies who send their kids to war. It is liberals who abort their children. It is Libertarians who advocate for legal drug abuse by parents of dependent children. It is Spartan socialists who treated kids like little machines.
It is conservatives who protect kids. From abuse, from drugs, from crime, from abortion, from neglect, from sweatshops, from crappy socialized health care, from future-destroying economic policies.
We do not protect kids from hard work, honest competition, or failure. But we don’t kick them to the curb, either.

“Manning up” does not mean letting people abuse you. I don’t tolerate abuse much.
And there is nothing “manly” about demanding that a little girl defend herself against a bunch of nasty bullies. That is cowardice. That girl’s parents should have been defending her. They are her PARENTS.

Don’t shove her into the pit and tell her to figure it out herself. Don’t put your fingers into your ears as she cries for help, soothing your conscience by saying you are “toughening her up.” No you’re not. You’re abandoning her.

No Persevero is correct here. The girl needed some grace in this matter. Diet and exercise only? No help with the bullies? No trip to the family doctor to see if she has any under lining medical problems that are making her overweight in the first place?
Yes I can see how that story ended. Oh she lost the weight. That girl came down with anexoria nervosa before she was a teenager.

Every cell phone message you get is a string of insults and threats. Someone puts spit in your lunch. Your equipment at your desk gets stolen. People walk up to you and insult you to your face. If you complain to your boss, he says, why don’t you toughen up, you &*0&*^.
Oh, yeah, all the FReepers on this board would put up with that. Right.
Some may say the little girl in question should have shot the school up or started punching people. Really? She should go to juvie until she’s 21? That’s your solution?
